Who purchased the 2.7 even knowing the history..

Who purchased there 2.7 even though they were aware of the history of these motors. I purchased mine then later I found out the history. I was always a honda man. Now I have too many mods to even think of trading for a 3.5L, I guess I am lucky, I have the 7/70k extended warranty and lifetime powertrain. I do have free lifetime oil changes from the dealer too.

Maybe I am just overreacting. Just wanted my fellow members input.

The issues with the 2.7 are related to the previous generation of cars - called the LHs, not the LXs like we have. Even for the LH cars, the issues of sludge etc were seemingly resolved after the 2001 model year. Your engine is fine - enjoy the car

    Appreciate the response.

Even though they are LH vs LX, they are the exact same motor.

Not true......the block went through a bunch on internal changes to solve the problem they were having with small oil passage ways....My mom had the Intrepid which had the problem she had the motor changed under warranty the motor looks nothing like mine.....

I loved your car when I saw it at the D&B this past weekend. Beautiful job on the murdered out look.

I also bought my 300 without really looking at all the different models. I thought there was only a base and a C and looking at the way gas prices was going up, I thought, "looks good and economical, I'm getting the 2.7".

Now that I know there are other options, I might have gone with a touring or more, but in the end, I bought the car for looks. I still love the way it looks, even though I don't have the power to 'race'.

My car is an '05 and has 89k miles now and I bought it used at around 79k. I've already done a tune up and my mechanic was impressed that the only thing I needed to do was change the air filter and the spark plugs. Everything else was in great shape.

If your worried use good synthetic oil and change it by the book, bet it will last hundreds of thousand miles. Very cool 300 BTW. Toyota had the sludge problem also.

My uncle and cousin have had a bunch of Intrepids over the years (cousin's ex always wrecked them) and many had 200,000+ miles on them with no problems. All they ever did were regular 3,000mi oil changes with (get this) Wal-Mart oil and filters.

    Mileage

I have an 05 mag with 75k miles and have had no problems at all! Runs like new. Just change your oil and remember you dont have a hemi so dont try to race the ricers chances are you will lose anyway. Of course these cars are the only cars I have seen recently that still look cool when you lose! Gotta love it!
