    What brand Oil Filters

Just wondering what oil filters everyone uses. I had always stuck with manufacturers filters but I've read that Mopars Filters are just rebranded Frams...and since Fram gets a bad rep I am just curious what everyone else is using.

For the past two oil changes I've used Mobil One filters but have wanted to try Wix or something similar.

Purolator One or Mobil1 is what I use. There is a guy on 300cforums who dissected around 20 filters. Mopar filters were exactly like the Purolator's internally.

    Talking NAPA Gold #1773

It is 1qt big, so that makes an 8 qt crankcase.
I have used it since my second oil change
It fits, it works, it clears the belly pan.
It is the filter the race 426 Hemi's of the 60's used.

I used Purolator Pure One filters in the beginning. But I started to think about the whole extended drain thing since I run synthetic oil. Mobil 1 is the only readily available oil filter that specific tells you that you can extend your drain cycles without having to change your filter every 3000 miles. I figured that is worth the little extra money.

I've used the Mopar ones $4 Walmart and Mobil 1 for 125,000 miles, no problem. 5,000 mile changes which I'm sure is too often.

I've been reading the oil filter study by Knize http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...ilfilters.html and also reading Bob is the Oil Guy http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/index.html

Granted I will say that I was a long time Fram user for years, from my first car a 95 Ford Escort, to my 03 Mustang. Never had any issues, never even thought about it honestly. Looking at it now, I do not regret using Fram in any way. Both cars were into the 100k miles, neither had any issues when I got rid of them so for me Fram worked fine. However, seeing how they are constructed has made me want to use something else. I think for the next few I'll stick to Mobil 1 (I use that oil anyway) and start sending out oil samples and seeing what they say.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

    Cheers
