    Question Oil Pressure Gauge

    Would like to put an oil pressure gauge on the 2.7L. Is there an easy place to tap in and put on the sending unit, or would it be easier to install an oil filter adapter. Has anyone does this yet?

    Thanks

    I ended up ordering an oil cooler with an oil filter sandwich adapter. I'll just have to get a "T" to put the oil pressure sending unit off the adapter and all should be good to go. Still waiting to get my pillar pod though.

    I should be doing this next weekend, and will try to put up some pics.

    Oil Pressure should be read as close as possible to the oil filter. If you have you sensor off the engine and in a cooler you will not get a true reading. You should use an oil galley for the sensor. 5.7s have them all over the block. I think there is a good one on the back of the head too. That is what the manual said.

    The sandwich adapter and oil cooler were a snap to install. Would have taken some pics, but I left my camera at the g/f's. The oil pressure sensor is right off the sandwich adapter. I'll take a pic the next time I change my oil.

    I agree I would get a more accurate reading coming off the engine, but from what I read some have had a hard time removing the plugs. Besides, it is good enough for what I want it for.

    Now I just need to paint the pillar pod and get the gauges installed. That is, if it would stop snowing someday!!!

    Installed the Oil Pressure Gauge last night. When the engine was cold I took it up to 3K RPM and the needle went off the gauge (past 100 PSI). I remember reading this about the 3.5L;

    specification: minimum 4 psi @ curb idle, 25-110 psi @ 3000 rpm.

    Anyone know the range for the 2.7L?
