    Lets make it happen

Someone needs to really get serious, and run boost up to 10.5psi.I bet the 2.7 will reach the 300whp mark at 10.5psi.I mean really guys,if the Honda tuners can get 500+hp out of a built B16 motor at 25+psi.I know we can build our motors if neccesary to run 10.5psi.I don't know about anyone else, but I love under-dog status.I know we will need bigger injectors, high flow fuel pump, intercooler.etc, but someone needs to make it happen.Maybe one of the Manufacturors can sponser a project like this.

Nitrous has the same effect as supercharging or turbocharging and it's way cheaper. 2.7 would probably handle a 75 shot. A built bottom end 2.7 forged pistons, rods and crank could probably handle a 100 shot maybe a 150. If your transmission was good for it you might be able to run with a stock hemi, for a few seconds. BTW my first asswhoopin when I had my first car-1962 Impala SS with 283/powerglide was by a Dodge Dart slant 6.

I want something that's more permanate.Nitrous is good, but you have to keep getting the bottle filled.I definately know what N2O can do ,because I have an 87 turbo charged 300zx,running 8psi,with 100 shot running 8.0,in the 1/8 mile. But really I hope someone see's that some of the v6 guys, are wanting big performance gains, and hopefully someone steps up to the plate.

It's really not a question of CAN you get 300+ hp out of a 2.7 . Sure you could, easy, with a turbo set up. It's more a question of at which point does it become too expensive compared to the gains you get. To get 300 hp or more with a turbo set up, figure an easy $5000 to start. Nitrous would give you the cheapest hp. But, you have to know what you are doing and install a proper set up. Good luck.

To get that much hp, you will probably have to use something other than nitrous. You could put headers, a CAI and performance exhaust and get maybe another 20 hp, then add nitrous besides. But using a 75 shot or more shot of nitrous on a stock 2.7 engine is asking for trouble...

Whole problem with our LX's is weight. They're fairly heavy.

I understand that...but all the money to make power(safley) your going to need to invest into building the motor, Just a thought...a used R/T makes that power safe all day.

This is exactly why I like car-crafting, different ideas and opinions. I like the idea of a turbo 2.7, look at Audi's bi-turbo 2.7. Conservatively tuned to 250 hp and has higher potential waiting with a few mods. Sure we can argue costs but whatever path to construction/destruction we take, it's all about the end result. The kick in the pants, endless grin of satisfaction that comes when all is finished. I have a torque monster 455 Olds and more than once have I comtemplated the idea of wedging it into my Magnum. I do however enjoy the nearly 30 mpg I get from the 2.7. Having been around the GN crowd, I could go turbo, sure the initial costs are higher, but if done right the power and reliabilty is outstanding. Now to win that lottery and get started................................LOL!

The difference is the strength of the internals... I have no idea what Dodge's 2.7 can handle, but it's known that those little Honda weed whacker motors get built bottom ends and then you can wind them out to about a billion RPM. But that's a "big" motor for those cars, that was the option you picked if you wanted performance. Dodge built the 2.7 for the cruisers who didn't need/want to go fast, so I would be led to believe they didn't overbuild the rotating assembly too horribly much. They never expected anybody to want to beef 'em up, that's why they offered three larger engines.

I'm not trying to discourage you, I think it'd be sweet as hell if someone got 300rwhp out of the 2.7. But the first guy to do it is going to be the first guy to blow a 2.7L up...

Thumbs up If It Wasn't For "THE HEMI"!

If It Wasn't For "THE HEMI"! The 2.7L & 3.5L crowd would get more props.

Buick led the way with their 3.8L Intercooled EFI Turbo in the GN & GNX these were heavy cars not like the 5.0L Ford Fox Mustangs which are light from the factory.

I would like to see a 2.7L or 3.5L V6 kick butt with either a Turbo or Intercooled Procharger but the 1st wont be me with my current financial situation.

    Just my $.020.
