Another Predator up in smoke ...

I've been using the Predator for over a year now with no apparent problems, but today was different. I had the Predator installed on my 08 SRT8 Charger, but I wanted to use it on my 05 R/T Magnum just for today. I put the Charger back to stock and that went fine, I hooked the Predator up to the Magnum and changed most of the Quick Settings before trying to put the performance tune in. After reading the factory tune, I attempted to install the 93 Performance tune, after a few second the Predator gave me a "Close" screen and while I was sitting there in WTF mode the Predator started smoking. Luckily nothing in my Magnum seems screwed up, but I haven't taken a drive in it yet.

holy crap man. Hopefully the mag is OK. Hard to tell until you try and drive it if the tune got partially written and messed up as a result. Definitely time to call Diablo on this one.

Happened to me and others. Car should be fine. It's a problem with 05 Mag R/Ts for some reason - can't remember the specifics.

I just took the Maggie for a spin and it seems fine, but I'm heading to the track today, so that will be a real test. Of course the Charger is good, but back to the factory tune.

I really believe that I had the Predator bought and installed in the Magnum before I bought the Charger last year, so this doesn't really make sense.

If you updated the Crom on the Predator between that time and now, it could be the cause. I tried running version 12 or whatever it was and the Predator went up in smoke. Went back to version 08 and it's flawless.

This issue only shows up randomly in early build 05 models.

If you want to fix it for use in the 05, please fill out an rma request and send it in.

It should still work fine in the 08.

This Predator definitely worked in my Magnum before I purchased my Charger and I have a very late build 05 (March 05).

What's this going to cost me to make right?

If you need to borrow a predator let me know, I have mine sitting in a box at the moment...Given that this was a known issue I would think it's a warranty item?

Thanks Dave. I'm exploring some things and may need that loaner in a week or so. Warranty, that would be nice.

No cost if it is under the 2 year warranty
