I just signed up for this but wanted to let everyone else know as well.
Mark your calendars – August 16-17th is the next performance driving school at Texas World Speedway. You get all the help you need, or don’t, while running your car at speed on the 2.9 mile road course. Its $275 for the weekend ($175 for one day but you’ll shoot yourself for not coming back the second day if you do this option) where you get an instructor to ride with you in your car (first timers have the instructor with them) for as much track time as you could want in a weekend, plus plenty of theory in the classroom.

"I reject your conjecture and substitute my actual experience."
That's cool! Best way to learn and be prepared for something... ask questions!!That's what I was doing, and I rounded up so much info., I made that thread I linked for you!
I'm also learning to autocross in this beast, so I'm upgrading systems to help with that, too.
Let's see a drag-racer improve his run time by 7 seconds in one day!! LOL Without any changes to the car except tire pressures!![]()

well I finished up my second day out on the road course. Things started going better for me after I slowed it down some and focused on my line more than my speed. Once I started hitting my marks on a more consistence basis the speed started to pick up. Many people comment on how well my car sounded as it was going down the straight away. on the last run I was the only one out there and people said they could tell where I was on the track every time I went WOT. A friend of mine timed me on my last run, my best time was 2:24 on a 2.9 mile course which came out to an average speed of 72.5 mph. Most of the experience people that run Porsche, miatas, and Z3/4 can do a 2:00 with an average of 90 mph. But I still thought I did pretty good and my instructors were pleased with my progress. I bought a CD of pictures from a professional photographer which I should get later this week but here are a few to tide you over til then.

Awesome, I so want to do something like that.
9.18 @ 150 mph
Nice Daniel, looks like you had a great time. Now you just have to get that 2 ton beast down closer to 2 minutes. That video of the Vett running 1:58 was awsome. Do you have any plans to go back? I have always wanted to go and just hang out for a weekend with one of the car clubs.

I might go back again sometime but I'll need to get some new fronts first. I think you can just go out there during the days when the driving school is happening. after lunch you are allowed to go and do parade laps with friends and family. For me to get to the 2 second range I figure it'd cost me about $10k to get the car set up right so I could do it more than one time.
Some more picts of the 300 on the track.
Audi R8
Nissan GT-R

So, did you get to see the R8 and GT-R in action?
The GT-R was an instrustors car so I just saw it going around the track. The R8 was in my group so I got a lot of close ups of it. That thing could move around the track.
Great video of the 'Vette! Those cars are just awesome on a road course!
daniel, we've got some plans in the works to head up to TWS. more info on that in your super secret SCLX email. LOL.
