Today is the day that we told the King that we would no longer take his ****. A group of traitors to the crown sat down and created one of our most important document. This document that was sent to the King across the Atlantic in modern days basicaly said " **** YOU I'M OUT". For this, if those men would have failed in their goal. They would have been charged with treason to the crown and executed. One this day we celebrate those men but not as traitors....... but as Hero's. So today as we sit around the BBQ and drink our beer. Take a little time to look around and remember.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!!!!
HOOK EM HORNS!!!!!!!!!!
IIRC, independence was officially declared on the 2nd and the declaration was approved on the 4th.
I suppose they could have chosen either date for the holiday.

http://colonial-america.suite101.com...f_independenceIndependence Day: July 2, 1776 - Though Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th, the date that appears on the document itself, the 2nd of July is actually the day that the Continental Congress voted on and declared independence from Britain as the British fleet arrived in New York. The document itself wouldn’t actually be signed until August 2, 1776. In his writings, the 2nd President of the United States, John Adams, marked that in history, the 2nd of July would be memorialized. Close, but no cigar.
