Hardwire radar?

So at the mod meet wasn't able to get it done so I went to best buy bought the adapter tht let's me hardwire it b4 I cut the wires on the harness I got I tried it direct on the battery and it worked. So I saw Johnny bees srt and how he hardwired his threw uconnect in the 1 and 2 slot for ground and hot ... I tried that but didn't work for me or maybe I just didn't do it right? Advice? Help? Pics? Neone know which is the hot forsure so I don't have to cut my wires and guess or another way to hardwire that's near the top don't have enough wire to run to cig lighter.
