Contributions to SpacecityLX by Club Members

deathtrain raised an important point in a previous post that I also have been think about. There are a number of club members that make great contributions to the club and assure it maintains cohesiveness year after year. There are modders (new word!) that show up at the Amarillo M&G every year with tools in hand to help with installs. I would like to propose that the club start recognizing these folks with an award. To assure no conflicts the person should be voted on by club members. The person that wins in previous years will not be eligible the next year so that someone else gets a chance to be recognized for their contributions to the club. What do you all think!

AL there would also need to be other factors needed. Like forum contributions (not just BS like me,Jshep, viper, and DLS do. IT is intertaining to everyone by looking at the view couts.) but people that actually post useful information. i.e DudeIwin has really helped out in the racing side of this forums and has helped out FRI. Does that mean he is better than Scott, by all means NO. It is a just a different way to represnt SCLX. I would think that a certain criteria would be meet to be nominated.

    1) forum contributions
    2) Helping other SCLX members
    3) event participation both SCLX events and non SCLX events
    4) MOD knowledge

Of course it would have to be restrictions also. Like you cannot nominate yourself.

I am sure our leadership team can figure some more but I would strongly feel that it has nothing to do about the cars. This award is for the person and not about who has the best modded car. We already have events that award the best/most modded car.

lord knows im not the brightest when it comes to modding. scott has always answered any questions i had regarding headlights, motor work, tires. he really is a great help, and friend. its hard working shift work, balancing family and trying to help people with mods.

I think the ideas that are emerging are good thoughts and I agree with them. My thoughts were not designed to limit to but to provide a start that leads to additional ideas from the club members. Lets try to develop this thought further and I certainly would like to hear from our leadership to see if they concur with this course of action we are suggesting.

Great starting point guys -- From day 1 this thing has been about members helping members - knowledge sharing, friendships, and experiencing these great vehicles with like minded folks. So your thoughts to extend our recognition, etc is a good one.

Keep framing this thing out , then someone bring it fwd to the LT and we will review -thx !!

Are'nt they in Asia with the Obamas stirring up foreign membership?

I do like the idea, but this can be an eggshell platform. I am not so sure of a voting angle but more from the recommendation type format to the leaership team. They cruise the mod clinics and they are abreast of pretty much every happening and the people involved. They make good judgements and I think they make level headed decisions on all the aspects of the club.

I know there are other SCLX club members on this forum that post and it would be nice to hear from you all. SCLX has over 500 registered club members and we need to hear from you all so lets speak up. There are many good ideas already suggested and if you agree let the club now. Lets keep framing this out as suggested by Johnny Bee and keep in mind deathtrain's thought that this is not about cars, its about people in the club that make great contributions.

yes, this is 100% about the people, and members helping members.

how about something along the lines of a "member of the month". we'll create a recognition page on the website, a special "MOTM mm/yy" that can be embroidered on a club workshirt, etc.

then, all "members of the month" are empowered to help pick the next MOTM.

just thought i'd voice some thoughts and i'll bring this up at the LT meeting too.

I agree with this also, do not quite have a suggestion on how to show the appreciation but I like the member of the month. As far as how to determine who it is how about the last week or two of the month get suggestions and the last 2-3 days get a poll up or send out a mass text that way you get a bigger response. I mean no sense in doing it if your only going to get 10 people out of the what 300.

i agree, it doesn't mean much if the same 10-15 people vote. the members of SCLX are not all on this forum, but spread out. so if we do a poll, it will be embedded in our weekly email so that one vote per member. but to begin with, it may be just an advisory board that doest the nomination and voting until we get widespread participation from club members.

rest assured, we'll work on a plan. of course, the winner will have to write an short acceptance speech to post and have a picture taken with their ride, so some orchestration will be required.

think we are stretching this idea. the member of the month would only last a year and a half before we run out of people who help at each event. there needs to be some work done by the LT to get the 300 plus members off the couch and out to events. the same song and dance isnt cutting it. thats for a different thread sorry.

We've been trying for a couple years to seek input from all the members on what would help increase attendance to events. We just never get any feedback when we ask for it. When people do give us some ideas they are not willing to step up and help execute on them.

If anyone would like to step up with some ideas, let's take them offline and email the club for serious discussion.

I have had ideas in the past and I have always put them up here and see what type of feed back I get. Most of the time it goes by the way side and most dont speak. So that is a good sign that no one is really interested. Untill this one.

I see alot of good ideas being thrown in and am really impressed with some of them. But one of the first things that need to be done is look at member participation. Not just membership in itself. I mean we have a huge membership but across all of the forums I only really see about 50 members commenting/ posting. (well I cant tell on the chargerz I been banned..... oops.)

Rob sorry man but I would have to disagree with you on one point. Any new ideas from anyone in the club or out side the club need to be posted some where. Not taken off line. But I do agree that if a person has an idea that recieves alot of positive feed back. That person needs to at least assist the LT on making it happen.
