Winter Tire into a RT 05.

    Hello All,

Maybe I should read more, but I need some info regarding the winter tire choice.

I just bought a 05 Magnum RT with 800km on it ( St-Georges de beauce dealer close is door ) and I would like to know what will be the better choice on winter tire size.

My dealer told me that I have no other choice to continue with 225/60/18.

    Can I go down to 215/65/17 ? or 235/65-17 ?

Do you know if the wheel will fit ?

I'm looking for winter tire with stud ( I'm travel often to Chicoutimi and Alma )

    Thanks !

    Ghis

The best snow tires that I've had were the Dunlop Wintersport M3's in the 245/50/18 size. Unfortunately this size may be very hard to find. They handled as good as the best summer tires and went in the snow like a snowmobile. Blizzaks, and Nokians are good but expensive tires too. You don't need the 225,60/18 size but don't go bigger than 255/55/18's or you will rub on front.

contenential have a tire that will fit.studs are great but unless you live where the roads the roads are hard pack snow and ice don't waste the money.studs are noisey on pavement and are hard on the roads. Hemi's don't like snow but traction control handles it. just remember to drive with a educated right foot.

I would say go with Blizzak or Nokian. I went with Blizzak last winter and it is one of the best tire you can buy. But Nokian with studs are far above Blizzak !!!

But the Blizzak on a AWD R/T are doing an awesome job !

I went with the ContiWinterContact TS790 225/60-18. Great winter tires, V rated. This is my 3rd winter with them, so far so good.

Not sure how much different snowfall is in east Canada compared to Ohio but I have been running Bridgestone Blizzaks for 2 winters and had zero problems driving in the snow.

I've used Hankook 255\55-18 IceBears the last two years. Great tire, great price. They are about an 1 inch wider than stock, but don't rub at all and very close to the same height.

I have had 3 sets of snows on my 2 LXs, Conti790s (suck) Blizzacks (ok) Cooper Discover (best)
    I prefer the 255/55/18s
    Welcome form Fredericton!!
