Where do Canadians get their brakes done?

Im posting this in the very quiet Canadian section because I dont want to know about the deals in California or Florida. No offence but Im sure customs, taxes and shipping would make a dramatic difference in prices.

So that being said where do East coast Canadians get their brakes done? Im in Halifax and just got my car back from speedy muffler. The price they were able to get for FRONT rotors and pads is.

Raybestos FR brake rotors is $259.90 for two or $129.95 each.
Raybestos FR Ceramic brake pads were $149.95

My car had a horrible shudder to the brakes and I did "bed in the brakes" but that only worked for a couple of weeks before the shudder returned.

So Im pretty happy that now my car stops with no shudder what so ever.

Hey there NuclearJack, I didn't realize that there was anyone else on here from Halifax.

I just had the pulsing brakes from warped rotors, I think my caliper slider w stuck bcause my inside pads were worn out in under 20,000kms. Anyway, Dartmoth Dodge replaced the rotors under warrantee, but wantd $250.00 to do the pads. So I had the pads replaced at Steel Chrysler for about $130.00, and they come with a lifetime warrantee.

I don't know if this helps or not, good luck.

What area of Halifax are you in?

    Hey Valley

So its seems that the prices I paid are close to Standard for NS. I paid 149.95 instead of 130. I am surprised that Steele was cheap. I remember the article in the herald where they took a car to 5 places to get a new safety. (with the new law in place) and Steele wanted by far the most to pass the car.

I acutally live in Dartmouth in the ghetto known as highfield park.

Personally I do my brakes in front of my garage on the concrete pad. Take the rotors into a shop to be turned or replace them when too thin. New pads are easy to install and calibers only when they start to leak. One hour and the saved labour costs are for mods!
