Costums at Fedex facilities in Ontario are holding some packages (wheels) of mine, does it hapen often that they hold stuff on "clearance delay" that long?
Wheels are from US if it matters

Hi
I work in the cargo industry, and it can be very trying at times. It is totally up to customs how long it takes, but being rims, I dont understand the delay..... I have received shipments, and the boxes have the yellow tape on them, which states "customs inspected"
Sorry not to be much help.
I just had a huge problem with fedex.
For my birthday on sunday my girlfriend and everyone at my shop got an original painting by an artist that i think is great.
So they left it in the fedex box and i unwrap it from that.
The box is banged up, you could see where other boxes have been dropped on it from a good distance. So I open it and pull out this awesome painting, only to notice a 4inch rip in the canvas. The parcel was insured but the only problem is that if they reimburse for the painting then they own it. It's a one of a kind painted for me,so how do you replace that. argh!!!
I guess i will jus see if there are any local art restorers that can fix it.
Worst part is that there were like 15 fragile stickers all over the box.
Hi,
The Rev is right, your problem is either with Canadian customs or the shipper. Typically, the import documents are presented to customs before the goods arrive. Customs decides which items they want to inspect. All other goods are released for delivery. If there is a problem with the documentation, the goods will be held until adequate documentation is provided by the shipper. My guess is that the documentation is not complete which is why the goods are being held. In my expereince, the most common problem is failure to provide the country of origin. ( Not where the goods were shipped from, but where they were made) You should contact FedEx brokerage and find out why the goods are being held. If the problem is documentation, contact your shipper and get after him to take care of the problem.

I avoid FedEx if at all possible. They won't leave a package here unless you sign for it, and of course no one is at home whenever they come. Then if you don't want to wait until the next day when you might be home again, it's a 20 mile drive out to their warehouse... complete opposite end of this area from where we are located. Don't have such problems with UPS and they are much closer if I have to go there.

I think i have figured out what the problem is, i got the wheels (those are Magnum R/T wheels) from ebay for a mere $200. Now i guess that when customs got to them and may have check the retail value, which is about 10 times more, they stopped them from going.
Now, i have to call them to get this fixed.
Yeah, I'm fedup with FedEx.
I've used both FedEx and UPS. I can't really say that one is worse than the other. They both do pretty good, but they also both screw up every now and then. In this case, I'm not sure it's their fault. We ship to Canada via FedEx quite a bit, and usually have no problems. Every now and then though, something doesn't go right and it can be a real pain (and costly). It's almost always a customs/duties issue. I wish I had something to help you with, but it sounds like you're doing all you can at this point. Good luck!

In the future to avoid the Canadian Customs and duties.....if you're close enough to the border, try having the product sent to a forum member in the U.S. just across the border and drive down to pick them up. I know someone in B.C. who sent something to a guy in Seattle and will pick them up there.![]()
MY MEAT WILL MELT IN YOUR MOUTH....NOT IN YOUR HANDS! ENJOY THE Q.
Called them this afternoon and talked with a guy who did the best job since begining. He contacted the manager of their facility in Buffalo and asked him to intercept the package and send it back to Canada.
I should get update on Thursday.
Don't get mad at Fedex. Fedex has NOTHING to do with customs. I worked for Fedex and there were many times that for whatever reason, Customs would hold up packages.
