Well, where are the SRT8 results?

I know that a SRT8 was on the dyno today, as I have inside sources and inquiring minds want to know! Does carbon hold the bad boy back or not?

I can not wait to put the Formula back up to see if the changes have added a little extra. Only 882kms to go till she is broken in and ready to go.

It was me. And in the name of full disclosure the results were not much better than the last M+G. Kind of disappointing to say the least, since I have been driving the car harder, used the mopar combustion chamber conditioner (which is to decarbon) etc.

The sheets are in the car and I'm too tired to go out and get them so I will post the numbers tomorrow eve. But at most I'm up about 5 HP.

What is interesting is we did another 2 runs with the air intake removed from the filter box. Picked up about 8 to 10 HP. Did this 2 times with consistent result.

JAAK was there too and ran his car. Virtually same results as the M+G. He did an additional 2 runs with the air intake removed from the filter box and he too picked up about 8 to 10 HP.

So back to my car. Kind of stumped as to why it is down on power. Perhaps the engine mangement software? Does anyone know how to check the version number? I would like to compare my ver # to JAAKs and Marmadukes. JAAKs car and mine were built the same week. The only functional diff between the two are I have the Magnaflow cat back and he does not. We have same tires and wheels. His car has 6,000km and mine has 15,000 km. He did have some stuff done with the starscan so we are not 100% sure if his car has been flashed or not.

If we have the same engine software version then I'm at a loss to think of what to do next.....

There are build variances. I will have to try mine again some day too. Mine only made 265 so do not feel to bad. But I'm happy with it, just wish it got better mileage for the lower hp. Mine only had 4000k on it so who knows, it has 12000 now.

Bring it to the track since that is all that really matters. Paper is good for the bathroom, car lengths are what you really want.

hemiwagn I really feel for you and your slow SRT8. Sorry couldn't resist the sarcasm.

You still have an awesome ride that is one bad (_!_) wagon, and looks great too.

Sounds as though a CAI might be just the thing for the SRT8's though, let me know if you're going again and we can throw my Aircharger on there to see if you still have the HP gains you saw today, might help you decide before purchasing one. Acording to the K&N site it's the same one for the 5.7 and the 6.1.

HUGE thanks to Hemiwagn and HalfFast Performance for making it all possible.

The interesting thing about the dyno is it "appeared" the change was about breathing, but while the HP went up, the torque dropped down slightly. So bear in mind that pulling the intake hose off the air box also affects the length of the intake, so I wouldn't jump to the immediate conclusion that it's about breathing. (But I do lean in that direction...)

So this is exactly what will be investigated further.

However, even if it's proven that I can get 9 more HP at the rear wheels, that's a 2.5 % increase in HP, which I am highy doubtful my assometer can measure. So unless I'm going to the track regularly, I'd likely not bother.

We'll see! I'm more interested in why Hemiwagn's SRT is slightly down from the others measured.

Another thought-- low transmission fluid -- could this be a significant factor?

After the dyno run, we put Jaak's trailer hitch on using the lift in my garage.

Long story short, found a LARGE puddle of red transmission fluid that had leaked from my car over 2 or 3 days. I had noticed minor stains on the garage floor and was going to have the repair done at the next oil change (3,000 km from now). But the leak seems much worse than I thought. If the car is significantly down on fluid, would that affect RWHP? I assume so, but I don't know by how much in a dyno setting.

Don't know your exact story on the loss of power, but I did have a loss of power issue from a couple of Dyno results... Heat Soak. My first Dyno was fantastic, 381rwhp/380rwt. Two weeks later I lost 18rwhp on the dyno. Boy was I frustrated. It dawned on me that my first Dyno the car sat in the lot all day waiting my turn, so it was cold. The second Dyno two weeks later I had been driving around all day and we put the car up on the rack immediatly so it was hot 230*. Re Dyno'd a few days later, iced down the engine to about 165*, wala.... back to 381rwhp.

    Just trying to help.

    Wasn't heat soak.

Marmaduke, should PM Hemiwagn your contact info and he can let you know.

Now the best part... They may want to borrow yours for a few hours one day to try some intake experiments, if you're in to it. Pulling off the airbox gave a slight HP increase on both HW's and my SRT...
