srt catalytic conv questions / help??

I have a rattle somewhere in my exhaust and am trying to narrow it down and one of the theories is the honeycomb on the inside of the cats has come lose? other theories include lose brackets or clamps, but with my limited knowledge im convinced it's coming from somehwere between the cats, and the muffler. And since I have had the muffler replaced im starting to think its the cats.

now my question is what are my options as far as upgrading the cats and still passing emissions in ontario, and what am I looking at as far as prices go for new stock cats?

obviously i get this problem 3 months after the warranty ends!!!!!

I had a rattle from my exhaust especially on acceleration, turned out it was the heat shield on the driver side cat, the weld came lose and was causing the rattle, could be a possibility, also maybe check on warranty if it is the honeycomb in the cats, might be covered under the emissions warranty typically the emissions warranty is seven years or 150 000 kms, something like that anyways, It is longer then the rest of the warranties. Just some thoughts, good luck.

hmmmmm..interesting!! I did some hunting but can only find the emissions warranty in the states 8 years 80,000 miles. I will phone chrysler canada tomorrow to try to get the right info before I go into the dealership and they play dumb.

this could possibly be AMAZING advice and save me a bunch of cash! I will let you know how this turns out. I may owe you a beer for this one :D

I had the cat replaced on my Dakota after 6 years under warranty. The dealer did not know about the 7 years warranty[so he said] until I had him look it up.It is under the emission law.I think it was 7 years 120,00 or 140,00KM's Do I get a beer too lol

    Converter collapse

Usually if the contents of the cat come loose, you generally build too much back pressure and you will loose much of the power. I think!

So I called Chrysler Canada today and confirmed that there is indeed a 8 yr 130,000 km emissions warranty, which by the way the dealership had never heard of! Also this includes the catalytic converter and PCM. Now we just have toake sure that's the problem.

yea I figured there was a warranty the chrysler dealer in town here knew about it, they just dont say mucn about it, I think the automakers have no choice on this one, I think the government mandates this warranty my old GM vehicle had the same warranty and I had a cat replaced under it. Like you said now you just have to make sure thats the problem, I know the dealer here will check out the problem and if it is covered under warranty then everything is covered and if its not then you have to pay the diagnostic fee. Kind of curious as to what it is keep me updated if ya dont mind.
