    New BC Regional Site

Hey everyone, thought I'd post about a new BC Regional site: http://www.bclx.ca

I know some people are adverse to local/regional websites, having been involved with a few, I really enjoy them.

If anyone also rides Sportbikes you may have heard of BCSB (bcsportbikes.com) we broke off Sportbikes.net about 6-7 years ago. We have over 21,000 members now, so it's worked really well.

The Regional forum isn't designed to take away from the larger, general sites at all. They allow a certain culture to form, offer local only information (Specific event calendars, exchange forums, etc).

I've been involved with the administration of several large forums and have the resources to provide this regional site for the community and anyone interested. I hope not to step on too many toes, but it's inevitable so I'll apologize in advance.

The site is new and features will be added shortly and as requested. Feedback is always welcome.

Good luck with the site, Big Jim... unfortunately most of us have found that any other LX site in vancouver doesn't do so well... take for example vancouverlx.com, who's last post was a flaming war between wetcoast and a mustang owner (why was he even on there?)... last post was 2-22-2008.
If you check out the thread about vancouverlx.com here, you'll see that most of us are happy with our international brothers on LXForums.

At the same time, also hoping it doesn't cause confusion between BCLX.ca the website, and BCLX, British Columbia Modern Mopar Muscle the Car Club (which lives on LXForums.com).

    Just a few thoughts.

To start off, I have known "Big Jim' for roughly 5 years.

Both of us moderate on Canada largest firearms board, and he was the site tech guy for awhile.

Jim broached this idea on me and stated he would host the site on his server, and it would be at no cost to us.

Jim is not trying to step on anyones toes by offering to set up a website for the BCLX, and has no hidden agenda (like the other people seemed to have....).He is also not trying to "steal" away people for the LX Forums..........(This is our main home!!!!)

He is an avid enthusiast of shooting, Sport bikes, and now modern Mopar Muscle, and thought it would be a great idea if we had our own Canadian place to hang out at to go along with the LX Forums.

He found the BCLX.ca name was available and grabbed it for us.

To be clear, this site is for US, the BCLX "club", and is not a seperate entity...........

If everyone is cool with the idea and think it will get used, he will go public with it.If people are not interested, then it will be let go..................

I see the NorthWest Wash. Crew have started their own site and have made room for us over there, and that is very gracious of them (I already signed up....)........

But the site Jim is proposing would be specifically for the BCLX crew............

    Please, speak you minds............

I'd be more concerned with what happen to vancouverlx.com. But if this site is specific to us local LXers then I don't see problems like that happening. I guess all it means is we have another site to check out for local news.

    Thanks Ed, clarified it perfectly.

As well, if the forum doesn't fly or the BCLX (British Columbia Modern Mopar Muscle the Car Club) is concerned about this, I'm happy to work with the club.

I don't want to take anything away.. my only interest is in helping. Having the resources to do this at no cost to the club or members, and having done it several times before, I thought I'd throw it together. Honestly if it's a total bomb or the club is unhappy about the site, I'm only out $20.

We'll also be moderating the site and hopefully squashing any pissing contests before they ruin the content.

    First off:
Big Jim... Welcome to LXForums and to the BCLX crew!

    As for this topic:
I, for one, am happy with the current system because I can surf around and look for parts, check out the vendor deals, group buys, get answers/ideas from the national membership as well as our local crew and if I want the local update I just have to go to the regional forum, which is a couple of clicks away... As opposed to having to log off of site A and then navigate to and log on to site B???

Maybe I'm just "old school" but really what is the advantage to having a different site?

    Hey Paul,

The local site will never take oer from this one for parts shopping, vendor deals, group buys or even the tech knowledge.

I find it's really helpful to have a dedicated local calendar, a local for sale board (I personally only like to buy things I can see first, and hate shipping things).

I like local photo galleries, local culture, club email addresses, etc.

Instead of one forum and sorting through event posts, random banter, local questions, etc we can organize that content and depend on the global site for the wealth f non local info (deals, tech, etc).

It's cool that it's not for everyone and with the history of the other local forum, I can appreciate the reluctance.

    Thanks!
    Big Jim

Just so everyone knows there's a media gallery online at the bclx.ca site. Members can upload and share photos, movies, sound clips.

So even if the forums aren't for you, there's a Calendar and now a great way to share media.

Full out attack mode... those some sharp lookin' claws. Nice job on the photography though... it's kinda suiting -- cute little white kitten... all nice, then a red dot comes out, and look out -- claws and teeth.

Just an FYI for those interested.. you can now get @bclx.ca email addresses through the site (directions are in the Management forum).
