Bought Winters

Well, after last year's mild winter in Calgary, I thought I didn't need winter tires. Then the past 7 days hits. HOly c))))P. After my second unintentional 360 this morning, I decided it was money well spent.

I did a lot of research, and being that I'm leasing, I wanted to find an affordable option.

I went with the Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6. I got the 17's because it's the only size you can find steel wheels for. I ended up with the steel wheels from the base Magnum & 300.

Total cost $200 per tire, $100 per steel wheel. So I should be around $1300 with wheels and install.

Got them from Big4 in Calgary. Great to deal with.

I've got 18" steelies om my RT. Bought them off Eastway. You may want to make sure the 17" wheels clear your calipers before they're mounted.

I feel you magnumMark - these last 5 days have been cold. Looks like we are in for a little better weather over the next few days!

From what I've seen elsewhere on the forums, the 17" steel wheels will not clear your front calipers, you have to go with the 18"s

Yes, you guys were right about the 17's. I was called by the dealership that they didn't clear.

Where in the world do you get 18" steel wheels though?

You can order them from the dealership, but, I had mine shipped from Eastway Motors ( Ontario ) to Regina for about 2/3 the price. They are a supporting vendor.

Hope you get it sorted out. I am using my stock Continentals for the winter and I have 18" R/T's with Goodyear Assurance for the summer.

Actually the Post Script to this whole thing is that the dealership called me while it was trying to put the wheels and tires on that they didn't fit, so I didn't get charged anything.
