Thumbs down This is the best they could do?

I went to the Calgary International Auto and Truck show yesterday. Overall it was a good show except for the Chrysler/Dodoge/Jeep display. No SRTs at all, except a roped off, modified Viper. I'm thinking of a GCSRT8 and figured that at least I'd be able to sit in a regular GC. Nope. There was one, but it was roped off!! It supposedly had the new diesel engine and I suspect that in reality it was a rebadged gas engined model, so I can understand the ropes, but couldn't they provide at least one regular GC for someone to actually sit in?

Ditto for the new Wrangler Unlimited. There was one, but it was up on a dias. When I asked a Mopar rep about why these two were not available to sit in she said that I could go to a dealership to try them. Hmmm. I could check out virtually every other model of every other manufacturer right there at the show, but for Mopars I had to go to the dealership. Not very impressive!

By comparison, Chevy had a next gen Camaro mock up (fake interior but the body looked exactly like the pictures of the running car I've seen) As well as every model I could think of. Ford had a new Shelby Mustang (not roped off) as well as a GT40 (they were offering free digital pictures of people standing next to this car), the Shelby GR1 concept, and the Super Chief concept. I didn't even see a picture of the Challenger, much less a concept.

As far as performance cars, Ford (as I said) had a new Shelby Mustang, Cadillac had 3 "V" cars (a CTS-V, an STS-V, and an XLR-V), Chevy had two Corvettes, including a Z06, BMW had an Alpina, Mercedes had a McLaren, even Smart had a Brabus. The only one that was roped off was the McLaren. Mopar? Only a roped off Viper. No other SRTs.

These shows are the chance for manufacturers to show off. People should be able to touch and sit in everything but the most exotic and expensive cars. For Mopar to have such a boring and unaccessable show is inexcusable, especially when their sales are off!

As for me, I'm planning on getting another vehicle. I was going to look at a GCSRT8 for the wife (which I'll drive alot too ), and I'm still considering it, but after this show I'm seriously thinking of picking up a Cadillac CTS-V and letting her take the Magnum. Mopar sure dropped the ball on this one!!

Do you mind if I forward this message to a VP that I'm dealing with? I'm sure it would interest her. If so, PM me your email address and I'll see what I can do for you, if you are still interested in buying a DCX product.

Nope, I don't mind at all, and I'll PM you my email address if you like, but bear in mind that I probably won't be buying anything for 3-4 months. I always like to do a lot of research before purchasing any big ticket item. Unfortunately this VP won't be able to contact all the people that may have been put off by the display.

Not much can be done actually.

When Dodger, COOKZ and myself went to the Minneapolis Auto Show this week we expressed our displeasure with the overall show to the DCX rep attending the Avenger display. He says that with so many shows running at once that if a special car (in this case we were talking about the Challenger concept) was at one venue LAST year, it won't be at the same venue the following year because they have to make a rotation.

He said that even the 2 biggest shows, Detroit and Chicago, did not get the Challenger or Camaro and many of the other special cars because they had them last year.

Only so many cars to go around.

There was a Marine Blue GCSRT8 on display here, but not much else.

0657 AWD was talking about having any model of the Grand Cherokee available, not a specialty vehicle. Secondly, something can be done about it. If we all sit back and accept the garbage people throw at us, it's OUR fault if they continue doing it. In this case I will be in contact with a VP in charge of marketing. Will she do something? I believe she will because of her responses to earlier concerns I've had. The very least that will happen is "I" will offer 0657 AWD an Employee Discount if they still want to purchase one of our products.
Some DCX employees are proud and conscientious, I am one of them.

Very true, she won't be able to contact any, never mind all, unless people speak up, like you did. Please read my previous post on this too. 3-4 months don't matter to me, when you are ready contact me please, if you are buying DCX.

If you try out a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 , wear a neck brace. A good friend of mine has one and it will almost pull your head off. Can't imagine one of those with a 100 hp shot of juice.

Wow G Mango, that's a very generous offer. I'll try to test drive something in the next week or two.

No respnse from your VP yet, but then again I really didn't expect to get anyone so high up involved.

    Thanks again!!

    Don't blame her 0657AWD,
it's all my fault, I never got a second to email her today as things have not been pleasant at the plant recently and I was ran off my Scottish arse-nic today.
My offer is just because I ...well because I care about our cars....yea I know you are talking a GC, but it's in the family.
I started contacting this VP over issues I found important, others find them trivial, she is a credit to DCX.
BTW, I'm just a lineworker, therefore rarely would I feel good about any "suit" but this VP deserves all the accolades I can give her. She just finished helping me set up a plant tour, which no-one else could do. (more information to come on that)
Let me know if you want my discount.

I'll begin my research soon and be in touch in 3-4 months. Thanks again! BTW, don't sell yourself short with the "just a line-worker" comment. If everyone took pride in their job like you apparently do the whole world would be better for it!

Naw, not selling myself, or my coworkers short, just letting you know I'm not one of "them"
