I've been to one but other active members have been to several of these events.

    3 Laps for $25
    -1.5 miles per lap
-Additional $10 for 5x7 photo of you and your car in victory lane
-$25 for an additional 3 laps
    - Passengers are allowed with you, no one under 6
    - Enter at the south tunnel entrance which is off 114 going west, first light go right (the later you get there the longer it takes to get on the track)
    - The pace car goes 75 mph (additional pace trucks at the back of the pack) if you pass or go too fast they will black flag you and remove you from the track
    - Groups of, on average, 8 cars run at a time.
    - There is an area of non-participants to park their cars and watch
    - Ideally you lag back and get a good gap between you and cars ahead of you then stomp on it. Normally as long as you don't pass anyone it’s all good.

If you want to run as a group:

We should have a meeting time then enter into line together.

    OR

We can have the first one there get into line and upon entering the race track let them know there with a car club and they'll queue up the group in one staging lane (there are several staging lanes within the infield 10-12 wide and many cars deep).

Even at that it's exciting just driving around the 1.5 mile track and 24 degree turns... it much more than your every day drive.

There is a car club holding area. If you want to go as a group. It's over by the South Tunnel entrance.

Wish I could go but I'll be out of town.

Here's some more information on the event and plans.

    Cost:
    $30.00 for three laps.

    Time:
5-7 p.m - VIP and Car Clubs by reservation (I checked today and they have one open slot and need 14+ cars)

    7-10 General public.

    Where:
    South Tunnel Enterance.
The Crystal parking lot across from the Speedway Club near the South Tunnel Enterance will be open.

I recommend we meet between 5 and 6pm at the Crystal parking lot. Around 6ish we can enter the line as a group for the General Public runs starting at 7pm.

Post up any other ideas you have.

I did this event the last two years, the first time was a blast, being on the banked track was really something, didn't realize how much banking it had! I was able to get to at least 90 that time. The second time, there was some crazy person in a mini van up front who kept hitting the brakes and never going over 55, then almost stopped they got so scared, that wasn't so much fun. If you can go as a group, then you won't have to worry about something like that happening. It is for a good cause and quite enjoyable, my wife loved going on the track with me. Have fun!!
