Talking New gear to play with...

I just picked up my new Nikon D40 last night and am crazy excited to start using it! I have to tell you though, it came with a manual bigger than my high school Algebra book! I hope I get it down by our next meet - cuz from what I hear, this thing can take some very very good pictures...

Ok, sorry - had to share

that is a great entry level DSLR.. at $350 or so it is definetly is the best price. I prefer Canon but the price for the D40 is alot better the the Canon XT or XTI. I use the Canon 1D Mark III and the XTI as my backup and love them. I have used the D40 and Olympus E-500 or something. The D40 was far better then the olympus and was comparable to the XT..

Now the joy of the expensive hobby of DSLR. My bodies are worth about $6k and my lenses are about $7k and then my flashes, filters, tripods, monopods and bags are about $4k... But I have paid for all them in freelance photography. Weddings, Graduations, Showers, Barmitzfa's sp?, Birthdays, etc...

Congrats, let me know if you have any questions

Cool! I am just coming over from 35mm so I probably will have some questions. I wish I could have found one for $350. But then again, I got a 55mm zoom lens with the package for about $540 total at Ritz. Bought my wife a mini dv too on sale there. I love my other camera (Asahi Pentax K1000 - super vintage paper weight) but not having my own darkroom puts a hamper on it. Now my computer is my darkroom! Yay! My wife has no idea how expensive this will get.... he he he...

    +1 so true... very expensive.

There are a lot of good sites out there for the DSLR's I got my wife a XTI after she was always wanting to let her take some pictures.. figured it was time to let her do her own... now she is shotting some architecture and stuff for her work.. its addicting.

Well, I am assuming NB stands for New Braunfels. No wonder you are a shutterbug! That area is so beutiful. I lived in San Marcos for about 4 1/2 years and I miss it every day.
