Local dealers and service?

Since most of you seem "not" stock, what do you guys do for service, take it back to the dealer or go elsewhere?

Just had my front rotors replaced (was having some pretty noticeable vibration when braking at highway speeds), and was a little confused with the some of the answers i was getting regarding a simple oil change.

Manual and oilcap say 10w30
service guy says 5w30, even when i showed him the manual
parts guy says the bulk tank at the back has 5w20 which they use for pretty much everything.

I want this thing to last and run smmmoooothly.

I had already bought 6L of 10w30 RP, and have already had it changed at the local JiffyLube today, but it really makes me wonder about going back again for the bigger services.

am i being overly cautious?

One might use the word anal... but based on some of the past dialogue exchanged at the meets, i realize that some of the less mature members here may not let that slide by without taking a shot.

okay, so i detailed the car last night, only to discover that the front passender side of the bumper has some sort of weird discolouration on it.

made a note of it and dropped into the dealer this morning.

while the service guy is looking at it with me, we notice there is a completely different texture in this area, and with the car freshly clayed, you can really notice a masking line, where it was touched up. Bodyshop guy says that it looks like someone was trying to cover this up without going through the dealership... but the fact that all the fenderliner tabs are intact (and still the originals) makes him think that if it was an accident it must not have been too severe....

got to work in a pretty bad mood, and while i was showing the car to the boss (first time seeing the car) we noticed the front bumper on the passenger side doesn't really seem to line up with the fender as nicely as the drivers side.

call the dealership, and after very little prodding they've offered to paint the bumper fresh.

with all the stone chips and nicks and what not, will the fresh paint only highlight these problems more? or should i be asking for a new front fascia?

anyone want to hazard a guess as to whether they'll cover me for a loaner/rental for 2 days?

alright, well i think there was an accident, because the bolt on the inside holding the bumper to the fender is missing.

Well, the dealer is making a serious attempt at taking care of things for me, so i'm feeling a little more reassured.

bumper is being repainted, getting a loaner car of some sort.



on a side note... not that it matters much to anyone but myself...

i've just realized what the coloured markers are in the corner of each post.
and learned that it was this post that earned a negative reputation.

if the negative scores were directed at the following comment, i apologize if anyone was offended, but in all honesty it wasn't a negative comment directed at the people here. I thought it would be clearly taken as the joke it was intended to be, based on some of the silly conversations at the meets i've attended; hence the rolling eyes, like i'm no mature angel myself.
