Shipping, Handling and Brokerage fees ?

Hi guys,, (and Howdy Y'all (for Raygun's sake)),, if I order some parts out of the US,, spoiler and rad shroud cover,,, which outfit is best to have it shipped by? for example:UPS?, US Postal?, which others?. Which one will be the best considering shipping costs and what about brokerage fee's?
I know some of the club members have bought stuff so experience counts big.

Do whatever you can to avoid UPS. Brokerage fees are outrageous. USPS is the way to go if they can handle the size of the package.

Ditto what ASP man said except avoid multiple shippers. Check with STS and Chris about their experiences with one shipper handing off to another at the border. As I understand it, it was a cluster f**k.

I will have to say this for sure just like AWD said " FIND A SHIPPER THAT CAN SHIP FROM START TO FINISH !! " Mulitple companies are a pain in the a$$. Personally I would find out if anyone has shipped with DHL, I have heard some great feedback. I agree with that UPS statement, they love to charge more at the boarder otherwise there great for local use. But I did have awesome success with UPS when I just ordered from Summit Racing, the price was bang on when it arrived.

UPS is good for delivery, they just sometimes rape you on customs brokerage fees. (I've been charged $45 for a $1000 part, then a month later just $5 for all my rims. Go figure). USPS is definitely the way to go if you can.

USPS/Canada Post is the only way to go. They will only charge you a $5 brokerage fee then your PST/GST. Anybody else will charge you much more then that.

Hey guys, my rims are in town and I'm supposed to be my own broker? They have sent some forms to customs in Calgary and told me I need to attend there, prove who I am and what I had shipped, then fill out forms, pay money and then go back to the shipper to pick the wheels up (once customs releases them of course).. Has anyone done this? Is it a pain or just time consuming?

And for shipping, to get back on topic... ONE COMPANY for the sake of Pete!! lol, I don't mind UPS after this debacle... I'd have my wheels by now if I had used them, but the package was supposedly too heavy. What other companies are out there? I used Fed Ex for shipping my springs to Quebec, they rocked, 1/2 the price of UPS.

Try to avoid a courier company if there's a chance you can use the postal service. In my experience, I received a $45.00 item that even though it was incorrectly addressed, found it's way to me via courier. Six months later, I received a letter from a collection agency collecting $39.00 in duty, fees, taxes etc. What a nightmare!!!!

I've probably ordered 20 items out of the US in the last few years. Here are my thoughts:

    1) If you are not in a hurry, and can wait the extra 10 days or so, use USPS hands down. No "handling fees" that make absolutely no sense at all. I swear the courier companies just throw 3 darts, add them up and that's your handling fee charge! USPS might be slow, but they are good and cheap.

    2) UPS - If ordering expensive items (say over $250) and you would like to have it fairly quickly, UPS is good. Like I said before, there is no rhyme or reason to their charges, so make sure you are either getting a great deal on the US product or it's just not available in Canada before going this route.

    3) Exhaust all resources to find the product in Canada somewhere! What seems like a deal in the US, converted to CDN, brokered, taxed, extra fees etc added on, and it's suddenly not that good of a deal. My Tire Preasure Sensors were a good example. I found them in the US for $24.99 USD each. By the time I had them in my hands, they were $52.18 CDN each. I could have just gone to the dealer and bought them for $50 each. You just have no way what the hidden fees will be until the bill arrives.

    4) Never use Fedex. Long story, hate them, nough said.

Thanks for the SH&BF guidance, now another question.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge. I'm in no rush, so I think USPS will be my choice if the source companies will do it.
I'm after a SRT8 type spoiler, like this
    http://www.wyckoffchryslerparts.com/30032srstres.html
and a rad shroud cover, like this,
    http://www.carbonbydesign.com/prodde...diator%5FCover

Does anyone know off the top of their head if these are available in C_eh_N_eh_D_eh before I start searching for Canadian companies on a US based website(google)?
    Thanks guys,,,.

For any Mopar or Chrysler parts send a PM to AdamC (Eastway Chrysler) they are in Canada and a supporting vendor. Let him know what you're getting it for in tuhe US and give him a shot. He does deal with us LXF members very well.

I second Token's suggestion about Eastway....Have used Adam twice, and while there were some issue with the wrong part getting shipped, he fixed it up immediately! His prices are pretty fair as well when you figure the duty and border fees are included already.

US Postal for sure. I have gone UPS and FED EX along with USP. Fees and brokerage fees are a fraction of the cost if you use the US postal service compared to the other couriers... trust me! As for cost, I got my Corsa from the States for a fraction of what it would have cost me in Canada...!300 CDN including fees and conversion compared to 1600-1850 CDN.

I assume that's $1300, not $300, right? If it's $300, tell me who you got it from!!
