Saturday July 14th, Lets Make it Big!

The following is a run down of all info supplied in the interest thread. Now that the date is set, I'll start this to help out small town srt-8. He's done all the work on this, and it's really appreciated! (Yes, it is an edited version of the mass email, but I'm lazy and this was the easy way out! lol)

Small town srt-8 (STS, for the sake of typing, lol) has generously offered the use of his acreage for, well, I'd call it a show and shine or meet and greet, but it goes way beyond just that.

On Saturday, July 14th, he is opening his doors to us, our families, and anyone interesting in the club. The acreage, approx 32 kms south of Edmonton, has paved access all the way from the Highway (QE#2), meaning no mud or gravel for the trip. On the land is a 3.5 acre Saskatoon berry bush U-Pick which he has offered up to us for a day of fun with the family. He also has a 1.5 acre grassed area that is perfect for the impromptu parking lot for 50+ cars!

STS has managed to not only offer up 3 BBQ's for cooking our dinner on, but a huge inflatable "monster truck" jump house for any kids in attendance (and undoubtedly a few lighthearted adults as well!)

Food and beverages will be your responsibility, but the cooking of the food can be done on the provided BBQs. STS also requested that I remind everyone to bring lawnchairs, lol. We have room for 50+ cars, and after 5 days of posting this meet, we have 13 people and their families attending, not bad!

If you plan on driving up and having a few bevvies, STS has also been kind enough to offer up the area as an overnight venue, complete with campfire, so you may want to consider bringing mobile accommodations, lol.

So to recap, If you come up Saturday, you get to be a part of a huge get together, complete with berry picking, jump house, BBQ, bevvies, cars, good folks, a fire, and a free grassy area to set up camp for the night.

We are a for sure GO for the Saturday and is CONFIRMED! I've got the ball rolling here, MONSTER TRUCK INFLATABLE CONFIRMED !! BBQ's CONFIRMED !! Waste Management is loaning us a Restroom and is CONFIRMED !! I've also got some calls in for some other things. They will be confirmed at a later date. The numbers are increasing. I'm trying to get my hands on a giant water tank as well (wash cars). But if i can't Leduc is only 8km's away to wash the cars.

Thanks for the offer AWD, i thought you were getting married in JULY! My wife reminded me of that after i said you had the week off. I now have a deal in the works for Burgers/Hotdogs/Pop and i've got a friend that owns a liquor store and i'm working on him right now. It's the people you know is what i say, the buddy/barter system. My wife says i know too many people. I'm just a people person, i get along with almost everyone.

Married in July? Not me. (Although my girlfriend would probably love the idea). As far as the buddy/barter system goes, I'm a dentist. I don't think free fillings would add much to your meet (LOL).

I remember we were joking around the trade off of a dentist seminar or something like that for me to get you into SEMA. LOL If you really wanted to go to SEMA it really isn't all that hard. We were sure though that we heard a wedding for July but we've heard 5 other weddings in July. Oh well sorry.

This is going to be a great weekend! We have this meet on Saturday. And then on sunday...I have a golf long drive event in Sylvan Lake.

Welcome to the group AdyRO, the M&G will be an excellent place to meet the members, 75% of us have never met. Not sure what model of car you have or where abouts your located but i'll throw this out at ya. If your in the Edmonton area there are a couple of us members that show up at Castrol Raceway on Friday nights for the Street Legals it's cheap and fun. Only $10 to watch or if your brave and want to see how fast or even get the feel for racing it's only $25 and bring a helmet. Tonight as long as the weather keeps up were going to have a North/South dual, should be a blast. Hope to see you around.

News flash. The berries are going to be ready a week early, I was just out in the field and there already appearing. About 2-2.5 weeks are they are ready. The weather sure changed things this year, normally they are not ready till 2nd to third week of July. By the time we have the M&G they may start tasting woody, it happens when there late picked. I need to know roughly who is going to show as well. The other suggestion was if there was anyone wanting bump the M&G a week earlier. Just going to toss that idea out there. I can still have everything set up for an earlier date as well.
