Exclamation New moderator needed: ALX member a must, no experience necessary, apply within.

Well as the "Changes" post stated, the ALX club forum is in need of a new moderator. THE MODERATOR MUST BE AN ALX MEMBER. I am going to stay out of this one, and I'm going to let the club decide. The moderators job isn't a tough one, but it involves sometimes getting involved in things that need to be dealt with in a professional manner. The new moderator will be tasked with monitoring posts and maintaining a family atmosphere in this club, as well as making sure that topics not related to this club, or not of interest to this club are reported and moved to the proper areas. It involves ensuring that this forum is running smooth, and post count be damned, this place doesn't get to cluttered.

It is not a "you now have tons of responsibilities and are now running the club" position, so no worries about that, it is merely a role that will allow the new moderator to assist new members and old members alike in keeping this place a forum that we all want to be a part of.

The Moderator needs to be someone who has some free time to dedicate to this forum, but the time required is actually quite minimal. They must familiarize themselves with the rules of LXForums, and although we run our own club through here, they host us, and we must abide by their rules.

I've gathered a list of those I have met and see as possible candidates, so I'll put the list up. Feel free to add to it, or choose those on the list that you agree with. If each ALX member could just choose one nominee that would make the final count so much easier for me, lol. If you want to put why you choose a certain person, feel free, but if you disagree with someone else's choice, this is not the place for that discussion.

The list I'm posting does not count towards the final totals, other then one vote for Jim, aka: Hemi RT on behalf of Mike.

A starter list: (Active members who have shown a vested interest in the club and it's growth)
    dewm1: David
    Hemi RT: Jim
    0657 AWD
    Moebius
    Jay007
    KWhale

Oh, and one last thing, and most important of all, lol, if you see yourself being nominated and have no desire to take on this role, let us know!! I'll nix those nominations and give those who selected you another chance to vote.

Talk to you all soon! Have a great week.

Mike (STS) says "One vote for Hemi RT!"

I vote for Hemi RT since he dedicated his time to make all those cool ALX banners for the Airdrie meet.

Thanks for the vote of confidence by including me in your starter list Chris, but I really don't have the time to do the position justice, so I will respectfully decline.
I would like to cast a vote for dewm1 (David) though as he has been involved from the start and I feel would be a great asset to keeping the club running smoothly.

I appreciate the vote but supplying the club these things should not be part of this. I have only been a member of this club for a very short time and there are members that have done more things for the club then me. I enjoy doing things for the club and will continue to do so unless I'm asked not to. I also don't want to step on any toes as being a new member and doing things can be looked at by more senior members as such.

At this time I will let my name stand but everyone must remember that I probably live further way from a major center than anyone else thus it is harder to get to events. I do enjoy seeing and meeting everyone; But even though this is not an actual position in the club I think that whom ever is chosen this person should be visible to the other club members.

Anyways I hope everyone looks at all the nominees and pick the best person for the job and whom ever it is that the members will make that persons job very easy..

    Good Luck to everyone.

LMAO funny guy Well I have decided that I AM buying the 2008 Lada. I will be taking the Charger in to the dealership on Tuesday and getting out of it. I am going to wait till around April to order the Viper, going to save up $20,000-$30,000 to put down on it. Also I really don't want to buy it and store it for 5-6 months before getting to drive it. I have two other cars I am going to finish restoring over the winter as well and I need the extra space. And did I mention I'm taking up Jazzercise and learning belly dancing?

Here's my vote to Hemi R/T and if Jim refuses I am going to say David and my reason for picking David as well is because he has been here right from the start and he has put in the effort as well, offering advise, showing at events and WELL HIS WIFE IS A COOL LADY !! LMAO
And David, Chris and the rest of the club WE WILL KEEP IN TOUCH FOR SURE !! Just cause the car will be gone doesn't mean we died as well.

Thanks guys I really enjoyed being a Moderator, both Chris and I sent off PM's to DMAG yesterday stating that I was stepping down. Chris I think you did the right thing by allowing the group to decide your next right hand man. Good luck to the next member, being a Moderator can be a fun thing sometimes. Chris you are the coolest guy in the world, I swear! I could only hope to one day be as cool as you!

    Thanks again
    Mike

Looks like we have others that are just as bad to watch out for. LOL Gee STS I didn't know you felt that much admiration for Chris, maybe you really should trade him straight across.

Guys, Thanks for all the kind words,,, I work on a computer from 6:45 to 16:00 every day, so by the time I get home I almost have to force myself to get on one. For sure I'll do it if the majority of the club wants, Hemi R/T declines and no else else volunteers.
Here's my thoughts, for what they're worth.
My support for new moderator goes to Hemi R/T. He has done more for the club and showed more interest than I have in the short time he's been around. I think he would make a good moderator if he's willing. The length of time one has been a member doesn't mean anything to me, it's attitude and willingness that matters. Being so far away from a major center is a small problem in todays world of instant communication.
There are clubs that members travel sometimes great distances to have a meet and greet so a weekend road trip to central location?, I don't see that as a problem, for myself and my wife anyways. A convoy of LX's going down the highway?, that turned heads before and it will everytime it happens. Some people will make the effort, others can't due to previous committments. We've seen new members travel several hours, we have before,,,,,eventually we'll have a turnout that's a grandstander.
    Anybody else have some thoughts?

I do agree that time doesn't really matter, but also offering goodies doesn't matter either. From what I have seen so far from Jim is what he has offered not the banners, flags, decals I'm talking the advise and the dedication to show even though he wasn't pleased to show his banged up car. His advise that he has offer through some of the posts that I have had the chance to read which is all of them were useful to members.
Although I really have to say David your idea's and budget minded mods for our cars really has been great and I know you would put the time just like Jim towards bettering this club. Also your spirit towards the group has really made our M&G's great and that includes your wife as well. I know Shelly thinks very highly of you and your wife, makes her time at the meetings very enjoyable.

First I'd like to say STS will be missed! Mike did a great job in helping this club to actually get off the ground in the first place, and I wouldn't be here if he had not brought the club to my attention. I guess I can excuse him leaving the forum if he really has to buy one of those crappy slow Vipers (LMAO...I get snotty when I'm jealous Mike).
As for the new moderator....I really don't have much time either, and when I do, it's usually at like 11 or 12 at night. That makes it too hard to deal with the other members who have more normal hours. I do think that Hemi R/T and dewm1 would both be excellent moderators though. I have not had a chance to meet Jim yet, but judging from his posts, he seems like a natural. I know that David doesn't have much time to devote to being a moderator either, but his wife seems to have a lot of time on her hands, maybe she could cover for him LOL

So my vote would be for Jim, and if he declines, the David should be forced to say he will do it, if enough people want him too.
