This years event will be held on April 28th, with a rain date of May 5th. TJ and I have agreed to host it at his place again this year (I'll post up a map later).
Here are the guidelines:
Post what precisely you wish to accomplish - we need to know to ensure the event runs smoothly. This post will be updated at the bottom - first come first served so-to-speak (anyone who shows up who has not announced their desires in this thread in advance runs the risk of being sent away to buy pizza and more beer).
This event is for minor / medium mods; things that can reasonably be accomplished in a day - absolute maximum two days. Major mods (for example, heads / cam), a case would have to made by that individual for this mod to happen during Modmania. If it is me doing this mod for someone, it precludes my involvement in other projects. The reasons are obvious; in order to do a proper / the best job possible my attention must be focused on the task at hand to ensure quality and repeatability (one can not walk away and come back without risking missing some small detail that could ruin the success of the project - something as simple as failing to torque one bolt for example). If another individual wishes to head-up a major mod, then I can allocate time to oversee / advise as-needed. Anyone who is considering a major mod will be subject to the same labor costs, as-if the project was performed outside of Modmania. There is significant risk associated with performing work of this magnitude...if it can be shown the lead / responsible party performing the work has failed to do the job properly they are generally liable. And let's face it...the minor sum that would be requested is far far below market value let alone offset the ultimate costs if something does go wrong). Any potential major mod performed during Modmainia III would need be discussed outside of this thread.
I would like everyone to bring coveralls, mechanics gloves (if your hands are too dainty) and personal protective equipment (PPE - safety glasses, etc). Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye :^)
More to the point I expect folks to get involved, help, get your hands dirty. Many hands make for light work, and everyone goes away with a sense of involvement and accomplishment. So the more mods you folks post - the more folks there will be to help you out :^)
SO...let's get this show on the road! Start posting what you want to accomplish and let's see if we can surpass the previous Modmania events. We can BBQ again, anyone wishing to head-up / organize this make yourself known here as well.
Here are the last two events to refresh and motivate:
