Exhaust Question ??

Has anyone cut those big trash cans off the back of there car ?? And if you have how does it sound ? I've got the Magna Flow system and not impressed with the overall sound, might cut the cans off the back of it. I'm guessing it may end up too loud, but i could be wrong thats why i'm asking if anyone has cut there originals off. Live in the country and love the sound of the HEMI, LOUD !!!

I have the JBA system, and it doesn't have rear resonators. I know a lot of guys on this forum have left the suitcase intact and cut off the resonators for a better sound.

My exhaust is loud, and I love the sound over the ones with resonators, from what I've read here the resonators prevent drone, so if you can live with drone (mine has plenty!) and you want louder, hack em off!

The JBA system I have has crap build quality, so I'll be upgrading to either the Borla or SLP cat backs, still without rear resonators of course.

I've got a new set of Zoomers that I haven't installed yet if you want to come into the west end to have a look at them. I bought them on the group buy a while ago.

Yeah, mlb12 and I both received our JBA systems at the same time, both were horrible build quality. Luckily I returned the headers for a new set, which were better. The bent hangers, bad fit, and most (not all) of my other complaints were fixed at the exhaust shop... mlb12 hasn't been so lucky and JBA has done nothing to compensate. My tips are already pitting and the mufflers look like they are about to rust through.. I installed everything in March... So be wary of JBA. (Although the high flow cats always seem to be good quality... odd.)

How do you do it MagnaCharged ??? I mean how can you buy a performance product and not install it ? As soon as i leave the store i've gotta install it, i race home or to my shop and put it on. AND ZOOMERS of all things, man thats the exhaust that i wanted to start with but i thought it would be to big of a pain in the rear to have shipped up here. I'm just hoping that i can mod my magnaflow system " LOUDER " i hope.

When I had my R/T, I had JBA's... Shortie headers and catbax. It was a beautiful sound, but lots of drone. Like Chris said, because the system does not have any resonators. I liked it and everything fit without having to modify even one single pre drilled part. BUT, the drone did start to bug me, especially on the highway. So, when I was fortunate enough to snag an SRT8, I decided to do some more research into exhaust systems. I went with the Corsa catbax (my spelling) and I LOVE it! Great @ WOT, mildly aggressive @ idle. The build quality is superb. I must admit, I miss the clean rear end look of the JBA's (no resos), but I'll take the Corsa's anyday.

I've got several things going on this silly car, none of which seems to get done too fast. I've also got work to do on my semi-tractor. It's not getting done too fast either. To be honest, it's kinda hard to get motivated some days. Big empty echo in the shop and all.

I had no trouble getting the pipes up here at all. I discussed the UPS trouble with Ron at length and he shipped via FedEx. Absolutely no trouble and he paid the duties even. I had the R/T dynoed stock and with the CAI, shortie headers and the catbax..... The mods increased HP about 6-8, but the big gain was in torque. If I remember right, it was something like 28- 32 ft/lbs. I did not have hi flow cats, so I dunno if the HP gains would have been bigger with them installed. I didn't want to screw around with the emission system. As it was, I got codes thrown at me left and right after the mods installation until HAL got reset by pulling certain fuses. I picked up that info on Charger forums.

Your not impressed with the Magnaflow system??!! I gotta say, I love mine! Its not super loud, but I think its just right when your just cruising and not trying to be noticed be every cop at the Tim’s, yet pretty loud and snotty at WOT….

Damn i never thought of this but will the N2O throw codes at me ?? I know some people have gotten codes from headers/cat backs. Chuse2Muse is going to end up with a wack of codes, he just ordered the JBA headers and a pile of other perf mods, but im not sure if anyone is to hear anything yet. I think he's just trying to blow the doors off my car, till i do the 426 stroker/heads and cam. Our shops are next door to each other and we end up in a burnout match sometimes to impress the big breasted women next his shop. LMAO

Chuse2Muse just received his JBA Headers yesterday as well as mid pipes. I've gotta say those headers look horible, the finish on them is JUNK ! I'm not sure how well they will bolt up, so i have no reply on fit. But the spatter on the inside of the ports and the dull ugly finish would make me think twice. Chuse2muse is planning on running a die grinder on the inside of the ports to clean them up but even he thought they would at least have some shine to them, they couldn't even put there name on both headers, cheap buggers. Sure hope they make a difference in power, they sure don't do it in the looks department. I myself would be CHOKED if i bought these things and embarrassed to show them off. Sorry to bad mouth these headers but really they could have thrown some polish on them and at least lined up the pipes before welding them.

"Pretty" is as as "Pretty" does IMO, I don't sit in the engine compartment. All reports I've read this system works and don't throw codes like some of the long tube headers. But your right they wouldn't win any beauty contest! I just hope they bolt up without any issues.
