August 11, Airdrie Summer Classic Show and Shine

For those who haven't experienced this show, the catch phrase of "Doin it on the grass" sums it up. For one day, August 11th, from 11am to 4pm, a car show of huge proportions takes over Nose Creek Park in the heart of Airdrie. It's almost standing room only and this beautiful park is transformed into a huge grass parking lot, with treed areas, pathways, and a creek running through it, it's a sight to see.

I entered last year and, with a very stock looking car, I was amazed at the response of enthusiasts like us who wanted to know everything about it. The only other LX, out of 300+ cars was a GoMango Daytona.

I will be attending again this year, so if anyone else wants to come down and help me represent our club, let me know.

Registration starts at 8am, and it cost 10 bucks to have your car in the show. It's an amazing way to spend the day, and the setting is perfect!

Well seeing I was definately planning on getting to the July 28 meet in Calgary but after what happened to her early Saturday Morning I don't think I'll make the July meet. I hope the bodyshop can get her done for this one. I'll try & post some pictures of the Damage ( I got Treed)

I'll be there. There are going to be a few of the members there as well. I'm sure most will be Calgary based members, there an awesome group of guys and gals. If you are interested Skeet let me know, we can get a couple more from our area and cruise down together.
Thats it i'm going to buy a video camera this week, too many good memories that I'd like to post but no video's.

That would be cool if we could get a few of us to go down there for the drive but eather way i'll go if u go and i can bring my video camera, my girlfriend had a blast shooting the last vid of me and cound'nt stop laughing when she saw what was left of the tires LOL, that is untill she saw the price of the new ones then it was

Now the question is How much will you pay to play ? Try buying 22" rubber with a tire size like 295/30/22 there alot more then those F1's. That last video you posted was awesome though. You must have been bouncin off that rev limiter the whole time.

LOL ya most of the time and its a good thing I stoped when I did because the belt was starting to hit the fender wall.

OUCH !! Lately I've seen some blow outs on the highway that have completely destroyed the fender due to the shredding off. With those plastic inner fenders your car wouldn't have a chance.

Ive ben meaning to atted this show for a number of years so Im really going to try to make it happen this year.
What time is everyone heading down? A meet up before in north Calgary Deerfoot mall or something) may be a good idea if we want to try to park a few LX's side by side at the show.

I was thinking more like trying to meet up somewhere in Airdrie, there are a couple of us Northern guys coming down. Just trying to factor the drive time in as well, even though last weekend only took the wife and I 1.5hrs to get to Calgary. Oop's I think I might have broke the law a bit, I thought those signs said 110mph. lol I really have to quit traveling to the states.

Now the wife is talking about driving her little hot rod (MINI) down to the car show. Crazy car nut women, she keeps saying we get to have all the fun and she wants to get more involved in the fun now. Her list of parts for the mini is getting longer, wheels, checker roof/mirrors, suspension and now a new addition to the list (always the cheapest) and touch screen Nav stereo. And I thought I had expensive taste. Looks like her B-Day and Christmas will an expensive one. O well at least I remembered our Anniversary on the 5th this year, booked a cruise a week ago. WOO HOO I'm not in the dog house this year.
Sure hope to see a big A-LX turn out for this show, I know there are a 3-4 and a MINI (most likely) making to drive from the Edmonton area. Hey Chris we will need to know where a NON-PAINT STRIPPING car wash is in your area. (Poor Raygun)
