Shop that guts cats in SoCal?

I went camping last weekend and met a guy with an AWD RT Magnum who is looking to hollow out his cats. But he has ZERO internet access and even less experience dealing with LX-savvy shops in his area (S. Pasadena). The nature of the job he wants done makes it tough, too.

Anyone know where he can get work done in SoCal? He may need to bring a Predator into the picture too to deal with the CEL's that I would assume come with this mod.

FYI I put him onto the cat-delete pipes that HHP sells, but I think he'd prefer to keep up outward appearances.

good luck with that.I don't know of a shop out there that would admit to gutting cats.

This thread is a bust, who ever gives this info out sucks, that shop will be closed down by the end of next week LOL. You can do it your self just get a hammer and a long chizzel and go at it, but remember you car will not be street legal any more (personal disclaimer)

Yeah I know... Obviously a PM will work too :-)

Is this easier to accomplish with an off-road pipe set like HHP sells? This guy is not the kind of guy who can do his own work.

I'd suggest he find another set of stockers that are either already gutted or just ask the person that he's buying from to knock it out before shipping. Then just take them to a shop to swap the pipes. That way, he's not asking the shop to gut them and when he has an issue (testing or whatever), he can go back to his stock cats.

Just put her on jackstands, disconnect the cats, then,it's just a matter of using a long chisel or screwdriver, and have at it. I had the Dynatec hi-flows and they were easy to gut. I did the Borla 125's and a Sidewinder cam at the same time, so I can't say how that affected the sound, but it got much louder and feels much quicker. I had the Borla 112's before. You'd be hard pressed to tell it's running gutted cats, don't notice any unpleasant exhaust odor like old pre smog cars have, but I'm in Maine, not California.

Easy for you and me, but I think you missed the part where Matt said "This guy is not the kind of guy who can do his own work. ".

When I gutted mine, I could tell a huge difference in tone, loudness and lack of power down low.
