Ok SoCal December 5th is the last Beach Burger Meet-n-Greet of the year and it's also our 2nd Annual
Drive
I know things have been tough for everyone this year but I hope you'll be able to join us and help a child who is a little less fortunate than we may have been.
The Marines will be in attendance again, so we look forward to seeing everyone and lets have a Holiday Spirited Beach Burger Meet-n-Greet.

SoCalLX Toy Drive
SoCalLX will be holding a toy drive to support the Toys For Tots program at Beach Burger on December 5th.
The United States Marine Corps will be sending representatives to Beach Burger to collect the toys in person. JonW will also be posting flyers at Beach Burger to let their general customers know that we will have the USMC there with drop boxes on that day.
Toy guidelines:
- Toys must be new and in factory packaging
- do not wrap toys in giftwrap or other packaging
- no loose toys like teddy bears or stuffed animals
- any age range gladly accepted
We all know how busy things get when Summer is over, so this will give everyone a great reason to get out to our December gathering at Beach Burger. We are asking all SoCalLX members if you can make it to one of this gathering to show your support for this cause.
Please keep this thread related to who is coming to the meet and this thread for any questions relating to the Toys for Tots toy drive.
We've had a lot of great meets this year. Let's make this a great finale' to end 2008. Come out and show your support!!
If for some reason you cannot make the December meet but would still like to donate a toy, I will have collection bins at Beach Burger on November 7th. Our Marine representatives will attend the event in December to collect the toys for distribution.
If you would like to make a cash donation directly to Toys for Tots, you can do so right through their website at http://www.toysfortots.org/donate/default.asp .
This was a great event last year and we had a huge success with it. I'm looking forward to an even bigger turnout this year.
Just FYI (to Monster
) - Here's a few other rules from one of their FAQ's:
Q : What kinds of toys are not allowed?
A : Toys with military theme. Toys related to weapons/law enforcement type toys. Toys with candy. Used toys. No chemicals (i.e. experimental labs, acid, crystal projects, etc.). The Toys For tots program do not allow these toys. The Toys For Tots of the Marine Corps reserve will not distribute toys fitting this description that are donated to the program to children. Instead, these toys will be donated to another charity organization.
Q : What kind of toys can I donate?
A : New, unwrapped toys preferably around the $10 or above price range. It is unsafe to distribute dangerous or dirty toys that could cause injury or illness to a child.
Q : What ages of children are eligible to receive toys?
A : National rules and guidelines permit distribution of toys to children from 0 up to 13 years of age. However, Marine Corps Reserve units are authorized to place further limitations on this depending on conditions in their areas. In South Orange County county , the decision has been made to distribute toys to children up to 17 years of age only. We will also distribute toys to individuals that are over 17 in special needs cases.
