Do I know who this is?

So far DanRealtor, FactoryD, and Junior have offered to turn some wrenches. No other LX club has done anything like this. Let's be the first.

I have the motor shipping stand they require to ship one. I have a feeling there are going to be a number of these fire breathing dragons running around in the not too distant future.

Do you have a nice shop for this event yet C?
Working on it. Junior said we could maybe do it at the Meister's house. I am looking into getting a bay at my local shop. They may help as well.

Here is what is on the agenda:

    1)Remove Radiator
2)Remove Alt and pwr steering pump
    3)Unbolt tranny from motor
    4)Unbolt exhaust from cat back
5)Remove orig motor basically in tact
    6)Replace torque converter
7)Mount rear air filter for dual Tbody intake
    8)Install new short block
    9)Bolt on Heads and Headers
    10Bolt on rockers, etc.
    11)Bolt on dual Tbody intake
    12)Attach headers to cat back
    13)Bolt on accessories
    14)Make all remaining connections
    15)Add all fluids
    16)Fire at will

If I can put the motor in with the headers on without trouble, I will have the motor completely assembled except for the intake and bypass a few of these steps. Anyone know if I can put the motor in with the LT headers attached?

Yessir! This'll be a good one... We can certainly do it here, lots of room for wrenching; pool and yard and BBQ in back... it's available if that's what you all wanna do.

What do you guys think - start to finish according to Carl's list... 6 or 8 hours? I really don't know - but those of us wrenching could start early and folks could drop by whenever they wanted, and stay however long... Barbeque and swimming, whatever, throughout the day... sounds like a great time.

We'll need to get a good list of parts and tools necessary so we don't get hamstrung by something small...

    This is gonna be good!

I don't think so Tim, I seem to remember a little SoCal party at my place for just about the same thing.

So Jr. asked me to give you'll a heads up on a swap. A couple things I noticed, you don't need to do. Also, some of this may already know, but I'll say it anyhow.

1: You don't need to remove the radiator. You do need to remove the fans.

2: You should use the correct engine block lifting tool. I highly suggest this one.

3: This may go with out saying, but remove the hood. Remove the shroud (were the wipers are) and stock strut brace. this will make getting to everything 10X's easier, especially the tranny bolts. OH ya, remove the intake too.

4: Unbolt the engine mounts from below (at the frame). Remove all the ACC's from the motor.

5: You can removee the entire block with heads and headers in place. Unless you have LT's. If you have LT's or are going to install LT's, you'll be playing with a short block for this portion of the swap.

6: Be Very careful with the installation of the converter, pay attention and double check the install. Triple check the depth (placement) on the input shaft. Do this before you drop the block back in, or you'll be taking it back out.

7: DO NOT FORGET THIS ONE, yup ole number 7!!!. ABSOLUTELY MAKE SURE THAT when you install the TC, you have a set of the mounts at the 6:00 position. After you place the block, you can turn the fly wheel to line it up, but you ain't turning the TC. So install the two bolts, leave loose, use the damper to turn the motor over to get the other 4 bolts in place, then torque them.

8: Make sure you remove a plug from each cylinder, that way you can turn the motor over.

There are a lot of steps I left out. But I shouldn't have to say them anyhow. Good luck and have fun burping your new born baby when your done. If you have any questions while your doing it, I'll PM Jr my #.

Do you need pics of mine since you and I are the only ones who have this intake?

How do you plan on wiring it from the front one to the back....?

Even though we would have more muscle it would probably still be unfair since you have already done one.
