    To move on or not to move on...

    ...that is the question.

    I've been kicking around the idea of replacing the magnum with some kind of pick up truck. So the question is, can anyone talk me out of it, if not should I attempt the sale with mods or de-mod first.

    Anyone interested in my shaker hood with molded trim ring and shaved squirters?

    If you can sell it with the mods go ahead but if you cant and you end up trading it in pull everything off it first....they will not give you any extra for it....

    You'll get nothing in trade and the Magnum is a great car. Unless you NEED a truck, there is no way I'd even consider it.

    I'd say you own a rare piece of history . Shame is that these sweet Maggies will be seen less and less on the road in coming years . Seeing as if you will get killed on a trade or even private sale......perhaps you can keep it and swing a truck payment as well . Even if it's an older truck than you could buy new with the funds from selling the mag . Just a thought .

    Magnum + Truck....I like that idea. Let me see what I can figure out...

    I can't believe I'm about to type this, but it's too bad gas prices are not $4/gal anymore. I was getting calls from the dealership about every week and the price on a new Ram was getting lower and lower.

    Man that was easy.....lol . Good luck working it out man . Trucks are a steal now . My buddy got a 40K loaded Titan for 28 K a few weeks ago . It had 4,000 miles on it . There are stupid good deals to be had right now .

    I feel ya cause used to have a truck, and stil need one for work so i going to buy a used p.o.s. to do all my construction stuff with. lol

    well i will not try and get you to keep the mag, because i feel everyone needs a truck. but do what mkes you happy. i have seen alot of 02+ rams on craigslist for under $10K so that might make it a little easyer. i have seen 4 door 4X4 hemi's for about 13K

    I always had trucks before the Charger, got the car because I was tired of using my truck for work, and figured... well if I don't have a truck... maybe it will help me get one....

    So now I have a company truck and the Charger.... the car was fun for the first 6 months, but for the last 2 1/2 years I've been wishing I still had a truck, as I cannot use the company truck for personal use....

    Don't get me wrong.... I absolutely love this car.... but at the end of the day.... its still a car....
    Can I use it to tow? somewhat if I get a hitch
    Can I go off-roading? Only if one of my buddies with a truck is going, but who wants to be a passenger?
    Can I make Home Depot runs? Not if I want to buy more then a paint brush...
    (I have carried (25) 2" 90 degree rigid conduit elbows in my car... just alittle weight!)
    Hunting? I am not about to throw an elk or a deer in the trunk....

    So there is alot I have not been able to do, that I used to do all the time.... problem is... with fuel prices, and current models.... what the hell do you get?

    09 Dodge Ram 1500.... drove em when they first hit the lots... nice truck... but outside of the ride (rides the same as my 03 Avalanche) not something that grabs you with a gotta have it feeling

    09 F150.... decent truck, hate the seats (I drive an 08 F150 5 days a week).... and don't get me started about the engines that should have been replaced/updated years ago... just not up to par with any of the competition. We'll have to see what the Raptor gets priced at, or if they change their mind and offer the 6.2L in other F150's.... who knows, maybe the 5.0L in the works will be decent...

    GM twins..... Unless they bring out a game changing "gotta have it" truck.... the current trucks just don't do it for me...

    Imports..... The titan feels cheap, could not live with the yota dash every day....

    Heavy Duties.... The only thing good about the Dodge is the Cummins, which when I was active on diesel garage was having DPF issues, not to mention with the Cummins and PStroke... the diesel fuel economy advantage just isnt there, even more so with fuel prices...

    I love the Ford SD's.... BUT... they need a decent powertrain... the gas engines are worthless against the engines from the competition, and the 6.4.... while not as bad yet as the 6.0 was.... is not exactly a problem free engine. For 2010, the base gasser is supposed to be the 6.2L used in the Raptor mentioned above.... but who knows what the specs will be compared to the SVT version...

    GM.... They are decent trucks, the DMax is still getting decent fuel economy (no comment about 2010 MY as the emission regulations might kill that argument for them) The interior is ok.... when it came out it was "game changing" but now it is... eehhh.... plus, while IFS does give a better on road ride, if you are into off-roading it is the trucks "Achilles Heel".... (same problem I have with all the light duties)

    Now these are my opinions, and I am sure someone else will have other things, good or bad to say about every truck out there... but from what I see... If you are wanting/needing a truck, but do not necessarily need one "RIGHT NOW" you are better off to wait for the 2010/11 MY as you will have better engine choices from Ford, GM will have the 4.5L diesel (Ford shelved theirs), and some smaller displacement force fed engines will be available....

    Couldn't agree more.... of course that is only if you want to have both 4wd computers go out, grenade a transmission, replace the fuel pump, replace the catalytic converters and more within the first 42k miles..... yup.... dem chevy's are a rock alright....
