Good Rides and Good Times! Nothing is better.

Now somebody need to post a video of that mass burnout you guys did. Nice job!

Looks like the new fad is to write in the rubber dust from burnouts. Cool!

I didn't get any pictures of the burnouts, as I was a major contributer. LOL

Special guest with another special guest.

I suppose it would be nice if all knew why she is so special (text below by full)

    Operation Homefront Launches Arizona Chapter
Operation Homefront Launches Arizona Chapter CONTACT: Rob Mochen March 16, 2007 (210) 659-7756 or rob@operationhomefront.net

PHOENIX, AZ – Operation Homefront announced it has launched a new chapter to provide emergency assistance and morale to Arizona’s active duty, guard and reserve troops and their families, as well as the wounded when they return home.

Thanks to the generous support of Jim Click and led by well-known Arizona military mom Margy Bons, the chapter has already assisted in several serious and high-profile cases.

Operation Homefront is a grassroots, volunteer-based community solution where the needs of troops and military families with deployed service members are matched with the charitable outreach of local volunteers and businesses. Beginning in San Diego shortly after September 11, 2001, the organization now has 27 chapters that have sprouted up throughout the US in response to urgent requests from military families. The model is strong and effective, with support from Operation Homefront’s Advisory Board which includes Congressman Duncan Hunter, former-Senator Jim Talent and many other supporters. In acknowledgement of its effectiveness and to enhance collaboration, the Defense Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Operation Homefront, a rare honor held only by a few charities including the USO and ASYMCA.

In general, services fill a just-in-time urgent need, and are designed to help with the “Murphy’s Law” of deployments, meaning that crises typically occur after a service member has deployed and the spouse and children are left alone and financially strapped to cope. While Operation Homefront can flexibly address nearly any need, typical cases include:

    • Auto repair or donation of a used vehicle
    • home and appliance repair
    • distribution of refurbished computers for families to stay in touch with their deployed loved one
    • moving and transportation assistance
    • baby items to help welcome a new member of the family

“What drew me to Operation Homefront is how they so effectively get to the heart of the needs of military families,” said Margy Bons, Arizona chapter president. “I see this as an organization poised for dynamic expansion in aiding families, and I am honored to be a part of the growth.” Bons understands first hand the need for assistance after losing her son, Michael, to a battle with insurgents in Iraq on Mother’s Day 2005. Beyond the tragedy of that fateful day, she has made a commitment to honor her son by supporting his comrades and their families.

“Our world was forever changed on that Mother’s Day,” said Bons. “But I wanted to continue what Michael had started and that was to serve his country and his fellow comrades.”

Operation Homefront understands the needs of today’s military community, which generally consists of younger families of deployed service members, in the lower pay grades, in all services of the armed forces, including Reserves and National Guard. These families come from the cross section of American society and enter service with varying degrees of preparation. The organization has been sensitive to integrate programs alongside those being offered by other agencies, striving to achieve the largest impact with the least amount of expended resources.

“We continuously monitor our programs, liaison with other relief agencies, and measure our success of affecting the quality of life of military families,” said Bons. “In most cases, specific needs are generally validated by the Military Chaplain Corps and to a lesser extent by key volunteers and Operation Homefront staff.”

Operation Homefront provides a toll-free telephone hotline 1-800-849-6408 for military families in need. For more information or for personal donations and volunteer opportunities in Arizona, please contact Margy Bons, Arizona Chapter President, at 800-849-6408, or by email arizona@operationhomefront.net. For corporate donations or more information on Operation Homefront -- Arizona, see www.operationhomefront.net/Arizona.
