    Engine Malfunction Code

Had a nice time at the Havana Cafe. Great to meet some of you guys that I missed at G.A.M.E.

Sorry to bother you guys with questions about the Engine Malfunction Code my car is displaying. When I got home I checked the forum and came up with the correct key dance sequence. Turn to "on" position, then to "ACC" position, back on "on" rapidly three or four times quickly.

I came up with a P0128 code which is "Thermostat Rationality." It has to do with the 170 degree stat I installed. Tomorrow, out comes the 170 and in goes a 180 or 190 degree replacement. We'll see if that does it.

Or let it warm up a bit before you take off... that seems to work with mine so far.

I don't sit in my driveway until the coolant temperture is 180 degrees but I do warm it up some.

Both times I've had this light, the ambient temperature has been pretty warm. Today it was 95 degrees. The system takes ambient temperature into consideration and after 10 minutes of driving, it was saying to itself:

"Hey, it's ninety five degrees out, this idiot has been driving for 10 minutes now and I should be at 180+ degrees, but I'm not. Better throw a light"

I have to conclude that the hotter it is outside (higher ambient temperature) the quicker and more often we'll be getting the P0128 code.

Sounds like you need to talk some sense into it...

Sounds like she may not be heating up enough, the 180 or 190 t-stat should do you good.
