The Eades benefit report.
It was warm and breezy as the crowd gathered around the tour bus to listen to the announcement of the outcome of the car show. I think it really mattered little to all that attended who the winners were, it was really more of a formality to close a somber event. The winners accepted their plaques, and the crowd thinned slowly as the door prize numbers were read. It had been a pretty exciting afternoon filled with lots of “nice car” or “how much you have at the rear wheels” and the ever popular “what kind of mustang is that”. The tone changed when the family made an appearance at the event. Suddenly all of us were again very aware of why we were there. This was more than just a car show, this was a benefit. It may have been a small event to many, but to the family it was a gesture of the largest kind. This event came from the compassion of many but was born from the heart of one Family. When others did not see a way Bill and Sommer pushed hard to find the way. When others gave up Bill and Sommer answered the invite to the Arizona LX Clubs event at G.A.M.E. They were the two that crossed the bridge that day and continued their quest to help their friends. It took them only a few weeks after our G.A.M.E. event to have the Eades family benefit at the same location.
I for one am very happy to have been able to play a small part in such a large effort. I have not heard the total amount of money raised. I am sure it pales in comparison to the hope the event must have given to a family that has suffered such an unbelievable loss.
I hope all will let Bill and Sommer know that we are proud to have them as members here at lxforums, and I already know how proud the Arizona LX Club is of them.
I am also happy that our family of friends we have at G.A.M.E. worked hard to provide the best they could for the event. It was a nicely assembled show, that they cared enough to do all that they did speaks volumes about their character.
I had intended to post many pictures of the event here but instead I chose to only post a thought.
There was a family that was as happy as any family ever could be and in a moment in time their lives were changed forever. Sadly one of their lives was lost. The driver that hit them was driving at excessive speed. How much do you want to bet he never thought he would be the one to kill some one while “just opening her up a little” How many times do you suppose he thought or said “I’ll never have a problem because I KNOW how to drive”
I think I will keep this tragedy in mind the next time I feel like “just opening her up to stretch her legs.” I hope you do too.
I will save my need for speed for the track, will you?
All the best,
Now drive on

Thanks alot Joe for the post! It was a very hard day but it went very well. I have not had any sleep since due to overwelming sence of sadness and joy at the same time. I really just want to thank all that showed up to support my friends. This is not an easy thing to put together and an even harder thing to control but with help of G.A.M.E and several other people it went well. Thanks again and i look forward to hanging out with you guys again soon.
Bill
