Challenger Is Calling Me - Super Bee For Sale

I'm thinking about taking advantage of the great sale Mopar is having and getting my Challenger a couple of years earlier than anticipated. If anyone is interested in buying my Super Bee please let me know. Group I (heated seats, dual zone AC, EVIC), Group II (upgraded sound system, Sirius/XM satellite), side curtain airbags, rear seat DVD, sunroof. I added DMH electric cutouts, Mopar CAI, posi-centric brake pads (no brake dust!), visor disguisers, and window tint. I also changed the hood stripe to the retro 1971 style Bee-In-A-Circle from Rider Graphics. Car has 26K miles and is flawless except for the minor pinstripe (as Junior put it) I got way down low on the front fascia on our trip to Tortilla Flats last year. As most of you know this car was used to transport my 3-year-old twins to/from daycare, so this car has never been raced or abused (you didn't see me at Speed World/Firebird/Day 2 at Spring Festival did you?). No stains inside - the kids weren't allowed to eat or drink in the car. Lots of tire tread left. This car is almost showroom new.

Book value is $27,400. If an AZLX member is interested I'll sell it for $26,500. I'm torn about selling it, but the plan when I bought the Bee was to get a Challenger eventually and the deals you can get on a new Mopar right now are unreal. Financially it makes sense to do it now because in a year or two I probably won't be able to get the price or interest rate currently being offered on the Challenger (assuming Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep are even still in business).

I think Junior should buy my car. Especially considering what happened on the way home from 83rd the other night. A little more than a pinstripe....................

No it isn't. Chrysler sent out a memo last Friday saying EPP was over for all Challenger models at the close of business on 2/3. They then sent out a retraction yesterday saying that EPP still applies to Challenger SE and RT through 3/2. There is a whole big thread about this on challengertalk.com if you want to spend an hour reading through it. There was a lot of confusion about this, and there were Dodge salesmen arguing about it in the thread, but they are all in agreement now that EPP still applies to Challenger SE and RT.

    CC:

I won't be sad if it doesn't go. I'll just be $5-10K poorer two years from now when I have to spend more and pay a higher interest rate for my Challenger. Kyra also won't be sad to see the Bee stay. We went to test drive a Challenger Saturday night. I put the kids and their car seats in to make sure they could fit comfortably back there. Kyra said she really liked it. I asked her if she wanted to take the Challenger home with us. She said yes. I then explained to her that if we took the Challenger home we would have to leave the Bee there. She got a very sad/pensive look on her face, then told me very matter-of-factly that she really liked the Challenger but she wanted to go home in the Bee. Aaron's first comment when he got in - "there's no TV Daddy!" So the kids aren't fully on board yet, and it is more difficult to get them in and out, but a year from now that won't be an issue and the prices/rates right now are hard to pass up.

BTW I'm highly considering painting my Challenger purple. Another reason to get it now - the money I save now can be spent getting the car shot Plum Crazy.

You know I'm gonna hate you big time if you do that.

Are you going to paint the whole car purple or keep it black with purple highlights?

I'm either going to go purple and Cuda-ize it like this, but with a white billboard stripe:

Or I'm going to leave it orange and make a modern version of the 1970 TA Challenger:

Uh, no, the dealer is more than willing to take my vehicle in trade and made me a reasonable offer. I shouldn't have to explain this, but:

    1) Trade-in value is less than private party value. Duh.

    2) If this goes to the dealer they will list it for considerably more than I am asking.

    3) In the great state of Arizona, unlike many states, we don't pay taxes on private party car sales. So if I trade this in and an AZLX member buys it from the dealer they will pay more than I am asking AND pay 8% sales tax (about $2,400).

By keeping the dealer and the government out of the deal the new owner and I each keep more money in our pockets, as long as the difference between the private party purchase price and my trade-in offer is greater than the tax break I would get for trading in.

In reality, offering the car here at the price I listed isn't saving me that much. It would save the potential buyer considerably more, however. By my calculations, at least $4K by buying from me and not a dealer.
