Ronnie,
Great job on running the Challenge & everything you guys do, it is really appreciated.
But what happened to "Street Legal" & DOT tires that was agreed to? Most everyone in the Mopar Challenge is pretty new to bracket racing (even though some are pretty darn good & getting better, .004 lights & all), running against similar cars for a good time, yet the tube chassis race car with slicks keeps getting put in with this group. This board & the LXFC group have been pretty aggressive about getting new people to come out to the track & join in, it's a much tougher sell when someone is "on the fence" about coming out when they have to go up against race cars. If it is Moroso pushing this, then they should consider who brings more to the table, 1 car, or this forum?
race results and pts are up on moroso's site

Agree completely! I spoke with Ronnie, Luis and the Moroso track manager Saturday who happened to be in the area when I noticed that guy signing up. IMHO Ronnie & Luis did everything possible and it was the Moroso guy that was inflexable. I met him at the dinner and in both instances the guy seemed a bit of a d*** to me. I forget my exact words but closed out our conversation at the track asking the question was he willing to loose 10 guys to make a point? Personally, I won't race with 9 - 10 sec cars coming up behind me and have no problem with the entire group staying home for an event if that's what it takes to make a point.
I believe Ronnie and Luis are rewriting the "contract" for the Mopar Challenge to reflect the All Mopar & DOT tires so hopefully this will be remedied by the Feb event.
I'm all for competition.....bring it on!
Safety is another issue, I gots mouths to feed!!

Now, to play devil's advocate (because I like to at times...its fun)![]()
What happens when someone finally unlocks the ability to run a supercharger on the LX platform...safely for the motor. An SRT-8 could then go from being a 12 second car to a 10 second car. Do you ban the SRT-8, because he is now running in the 10's? I think the main thing that needs to be done for the series is that the car needs to be a Mopar AND needs to be ALL MOPAR. Mopar motor, Mopar transmission, Mopar body.
Either that...or lets put any of the "race cars" up against Jimbo! They have never run another car that has that much of a head start...they will lose every time.![]()

and he's going to run 10s on DOT tires with a 4000lb car? Did you see all the trouble the guy with the stroker was having hooking the tires? Guys with SRT8s letting a few lbs out of their street tires were turning better times plus the full cage required under 11.5s also clouds the issue.
Hey, I'm just one guy voicing an opinion. At my age recreational time is completely alocated to things I'm gonna have fun with. I was seriously considering going home if I drew the Road Runner Saturday for no other reason than the guy blows it, takes me out, I can't work and the odds that happens rise exponentially as the ET drops. The last few fully functional body parts that I haven't already trashed racing are all necessary to continue LOL!!![]()

LOL...Like I said...just being a smarta$$. I guess that means that if I get my Vette down in the 10's and win the Corvette Challenge, you will go ahead and let me win, if you win the Mopar Challenge the same month.![]()

Personally, I am not worried about the speed, my concern is the "spirit" of the event, running against similar cars for the fun of it, bring on the fast street cars, they probably will be less consistent that our slightly modified cars, my issue is a purpose built race car built to be repeatable in race environment. This guy has plenty of bracket races to run in, there are 5 tracks in South/Central Florida alone, I don't think he needs to run with us. If Moroso wants it open to everyone, that's their choice, but for me it won't be a must attend event anymore.
As far as safety goes that car wasn't even legal to run without a front end. For an event that requires the driver of a 16 second car to wear a helmet, it doesn't seem like they were concerned about the rules for this car. My dad actually told the tech guy he was building a car, but he had not put the front end on yet. He was told the car would not be legal. When he asked, "what about that Plymouth?" he was told to ask the tower.
I think this is a great event for guys and girls to get together and run their cars. I want to thank Ronnie for putting on such a great event. I enjoy bracket racing. It's a nice change from the regular test n tunes.
By the way Gil, I got the exact same impression of the guy when I talked to him.

I think if its an issue of a faster car coming up behind you while you're in the shut down lane, then Moroso needs to have a guy at the end of shut down lanes to give an all clear before the next pair even comes up to the line.
And Rob brings up a good point. If that car shouldn't have been running because it didn't have front end, its like Moroso doesn't care about safety, just making money. I also agree with Gil, if that guy keeps showing up, maybe we should boycott a couple of races until he and Moroso get the hint. I hate sounding like an a$$hole, but that guy's car is out of our league. Besides it has a Chevy motor. That ain't MOPAR!

N.P. I know.
I might not run you because why take the risk for "bragging rights"? On the other hand I'd be a bit more comfortable with someone I've raced with coming up behind me so you never know.
We've all sat in those staging lanes waiting after guys have either lost control or broke and messed stuff up from the 60' all the way down.
Faster = more risk all around and I'd be more comfortable with it in one of those $1,000.00 bracket races. At least I'm risking my butt for more than "bragging rights" LOL!!!!! With me it's always risk vs return at anything.

Yeah a *(&^!!! small time track manager that struts around like his position equates him to Donald *(&^! Trump or something! I was soooo close to telling him to "go **** yourself" and driving home. Only out of respect for Ronnie & Luis because they were doing their best to resolve it did I walk away.

I honestly don't know why I keep getting paired up with that guy every time but it is a little scary with my 16 second car to have a car running 11's coming at me at 120 mph when I'm doing 86. Yes it felt great to beat him and all but I was very nervous.
And the fact that he had no front end means he had no headlights which is another violation. I wasn't able to see him whatsoever untill he crossed the finish line right behind me.
I'd have to join in the boycott if that's what it takes.
World's first tuned V6 LX!!
