Please Read If You Are Going To Be In The Florida/FLXC Caravan

    Ok heres the run down.....
    Friday morning August 3, 2007....

    South members:
South Chapter Convoy to the Shindig
You will meet up at the West Palm Beach Rest stop on the Turnpike(mile marker 94) at 6am. You will need to meet up with the Florida State Trooper at the Fort Drum Service Plaza(mile marker 184) at 8am...he will wait no longer than 8:30am.....depending on when you leave, you will be escorted to the Okahumpka Service Plaza(mile marker 299) it should take you no more than 1h 38mins(115 miles) you should arrive between 9:30am and 10:00am the earlier you leave, the better.......
    West Central Members:
    West Central member caravan thread
You will meet up at the Flying J's then leave accordingly....Your caravan should take about 45mins....You will meet up at the Okahumpka Service Plaza between 9a-9:30a
    Central Members:
    Central Member Caravan
We meet at the Donato's next to the West Oaks Mall at 7:30am we leave no later than 8:30am we will caravan for about 45 mins to the Okahumpka Service Plaza
    North Member Caravan:
We will keep in contact with you and meet you at the I-75 and I-10 intersections by radio we will be abl;e to contact you and find where we need to meet.......here we can get gas or just scoop you up.....from there we will continue our cravan.....
we all will meet up at the Okahumpka plaza by 9-9:30am
we spend that time gassing up getting food, whatever......
we leave no later than 10:30am!
i know a few of you would like to stop at a rest stop or some type of gas facility, that is fine, however we need to make sure we are aware that the time we spend caravaning and gassing will be the time we are paying the officers($35.00 hr + $0.44 mile x 2) we have already calculated a good hour to play when needing to get gas or what not...
we will have radios, if you do not own a GRMS radio please get one.. if you need to borrow or peuchase one then do so please
This will be great for communicating with the group to find out each members needs and to compromise on a stop.....
The less stops we take the better for us in time......it takes about 4 hrs to travel from the Okahumpka Plaza to Perry Georgia....however it will only take about 2hrs and 45mins to get up to the end point of the escort(welcome center) from the plaza.....Once we depart from our escort, we will be on our own...at this time it should be 1p-1:30p it will take us another hour to get to the hotel.....we should arrive at the hotel by 2:30-3pm!!!
this hopefully will give the members who are interested in going to the races to get their things in and get ready....hopefully

when we arrive at the hotel it might be a good idea if we park our rides ahead of time....seeing 30 cars in the drop off lane might not be a good idea LOL
if your like me and would like to make sure you have constant view of your ride then move if need be.......if your going to the races have fun!just be sure to be ready for Saturday

Saturday August 4th 2007 The Day of the Shindig!!!!!!

Saturday we will be meeting at the parking lot of the Hotel at 8am....have a quick meeting and make our way to the fairgrounds.....

being part of the Shindig organization team, i need to be there by 8:30am to help set up for the shindig ....the doors do not open until 10am however, there is several loose ends to tie up.....with this said i was hoping to have our group ready and parked at the Fairground doors by 8am or 8:30a i know this seems early but it would look good for our status......please keep in mind if we would like to park as a group then we all need to be there at the same time.....

With all that said, i hope to have a safe trip!!!!!

thank you FLXC for your time and for your support!!!!!

You are the reason we are undoubtedly the best group!!!!

    Here is my .02 cents:

It is the height of tourist season for FL, have any of you been to the rest stops lately? They are jam packed as it is. Now imagine adding 70 more cars plus at least one extra person in each car. Back to my point the rest areas are jammed as it is, meaning the lines for the restrooms already have a half hour wait. Just make sure that we really have enough time planned out. It could take us about an Hour at the rest stop. That's just my .02 cents.

Thats a very good point, we will have to keep this in mind while we are being escorted.....

Just hope that the army or national guard is not doing manuevers.

They really jam up the rest stops.

    Been there, done that.

I will not be meeting at the I-10 I-75 split...did that last year, not again, the 18 wheelers will run you over!!!
I will be at the US-90 exit at Lake City. I thought of meeting at the rest area at mile marker 413 but this would be a huge trek down then back up, if I feel this is something I would do then I will post to this thread. RT Nomad will be in front of us I think.......hope.

Will the new orange shirts be at the Okahumpka area on Friday?
I wanted to pick mine up and maybe ride with the caravan for a short time.
