    Help

I just noticed a huge screw in the sidewall of my conti tire. It was in a good 2 1/2". I went and put a plug in it myself. I've heard that when things happen on the side wall that it's not very good for the tire. Is this true? Am I going to have to buy a new tire or is the plug good to go? Thanks!

You will need to replace the tire, since the side wall is thinner, & flexes more the plug can work it's way out, plus the structure is different than the tread area

Well it was a pretty big screw and very thick. It was maybe about an inch below the tread. It is going to suck having to buy a new tire but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I still don't understand how the hell a screw like that could end up on the side wall and in so deep.

I would not use the tire now that you comprised the tire's side. This will only make it weaker now...

Well I put up a WTB listing for a Conti Tire. They are fairly new so I am looking for something with about 80% + tread. If I do buy 2 tires then I may do the switch to Goodyear.
