FLXC'rs Please Read..June 23 Moroso Festival of Speed with LX Specific Class

Ok here is the deal guys. I have been in discussions withe the organizers of the Mustang Challenge Series at Moroso (www.themustangchallenge.com) They contacted me to see if there would be enough interest to have a Mopar class to run a series similar to the Stang and Vette series that currently run at Moroso currently. Basically this is a monthly series that typically takes place on a Saturday night..it is a points based Bracket racing series. It is really nice cause the series has its own tech line and staging lanes and you will get plenty of track time, not like your normal test and tune. Not to mention the fun of the competition As a feeler we have been extended an invitation to the Festival of Speed which is an all day event to see if we can get enough interest to make this series happen. What we would need is a minimum of 15-20 cars to have a viable series..obviously more would be better. I would like to keep it to LX cars and all SRT8 vehicles so the Jeeps can run as well. There already is a sport compact class that the SRT4 guys can compete in and they are starting a truck series that the Rams can compete in...but obviously if we cant get enough cars we could open it up to them as well.
Sorry for being long winded but I am excited about the possibility of this happening and I hope you all are to.
So here are the details for the "trial run" event:

    Moroso Festival of Speed
    Saturday June 23, 2007
Gates open at 9 am, this is an all day event..there will be a class for us as well as a Mustang, Corvette, Sport Compact, and Truck Classes.
Entry fee is 30.00 for a full day of racing and TNT starts at 4:30 so your fee includes that if you havent had enough racing!
    Spectator fee is 25.00
    www.morosomotorsportspark.net
Moroso Motorsports Park is Located In Palm Beach Gardens Florida...which is just North of West Palm Beach and is conviently accessed by the Turnpike or 1-95

Post up thoughts, opinions and questions...and most importantly post up if you can attend...as I will need to get back w the organizers regarding how viable this is.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Guys,

You dont have to have a fast car for bracket racing. Its all about the consistency of the driver AND the car. Having the faster car does have some advantages but i wont go into that now.

If you have ever "nailed-it" at a stop light then u can run on the drag strip and be alot safer at the same time.

    It is a great time!!

    Maybe this will help explain:
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    (Redirected from E.T. bracket race)
    Jump to: navigation, search
Bracket racing is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted speed of the two cars.
Each car chooses a dial-in time before the race, predicting the elapsed time the driver estimates it will take his or her car to cross the finish line. This is generally displayed on one or more windows so the starter can adjust the "Christmas tree" starting lights accordingly; the slower car in the race is given the green light before the faster car by a margin of the difference between their two dial-in times, so that if both were perfect, the cars would cross the line dead even. If either car goes faster than its dial-in (called running out or breaking out), it is disqualified regardless of who had the lower elapsed time; if both cars break out, the one who breaks out by the smallest amount wins. This eliminates any advantage from bending the rules by putting a slow dial-in time on the windshield to get a head start.
The effect of the bracket racing rules is to place a premium on consistency of performance of the driver and car rather than on raw speed, which in turn makes victory much less dependent on large infusions of money, and more dependent on mechanical and driving skill, such as reaction times, shifting abilities, and ability to control the car. Therefore, bracket racing (using the aforementioned handicapping system) is popular with casual weekend racers. Many of these recreational racers will drive their vehicles to the track, race them, and then simply drive them home.
This format allows for a wide variety of cars racing against each other. While traditional drag racing separates cars into a wide variety of classes based on power and weight, bracket racing classes can be simpler, and can accommodate any vehicle with basic technical inspection. Race events organized in this way are sometimes called "run what you brung."
