    First Time Down the Track!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! Tonight was my first time down the drag strip and it was AWESOME!!! First run I took it easy just to get the feel for my car and the track. Then I started to let loose.
    First run= r/t: .551 1/4: 15.430 @ 82.28mph
    Second run= r/t: .145 1/4: 14.659 @ 94.36mph
    Third run= r/t: .666 1/4: 14.28 @ 99.09mph

Thanks GoManGo (Chuck?) for helping me out with all the tips and pointers. I had a great time and I can't wait to do it again.

    14.28 @ 99 MPH is a pretty respectable run for a stock R/T.

Get rid of some excess weight, (spare, jack, etc) pump the front tires up to 55 PSI, lower the rears to 26 PSI W/the gas warnig light on & you'll be in the 13s if you can still get it "hooked up".

    A 180* TSTAT & the "25 cent fan mod" won't hurt either.

Oh yeah. Try leaving on the last yellow, don't wait for the green.

That will get your RTs down.

I just got back from Moroso and saw some fellow LX'ers there. I know rtr0id turned at least a 12.9 in his 300C-SRT8. He was telling me that there was a silver Charger SRT8 that ran ~12.6, with intake and Diablo Tune. Same mods rtr0id and I have . . .

For me, I ran a 13.1 with a .008 rt. I couldn't hook up well, and thought for sure I'd get in the 12's tonight, with the temps hovering right at 40 degrees. I lowered the psi in the rears to 25, and the front were around 28. Maybe I should add some pressure to the fronts? I couldn't get below a 2.15 60' time. But the 13.1 was my best run so far, and I'm getting closer and closer to the elusive 12.999 that I'm striving for.

I thought I was leaving on the yellow. But I don't think I did too bad for my first time out....ever. I didn't want to mess with the tire pressure or anything just yet. I am going to have my hubbie make that fan mod for me. Chuck showed it to me last night. I can not wait to get out there again. I want to try and work on my RTs next trip. Thanks everyone for the support, I still felt very welcome, even though I didn't get to see any of you. It's a bit Intimidating being one a the very few females out there. But rest assured I will see you there for the challenge!

Congrats on the times. That's very impressive for the first time out.

I made about five passes and left around 8. I made two passes of 12.76 back to back. After that, I couldn't hook. Even if I eased it off the line, I would spin through second gear. I was hoping for a personal best, but the traction just wasn't there. I think it was getting worse as the night went on.

Great job for your first time!!! Took me till about my 20th run down the strip before I started getting better RTs (.1 and lower... even cut a .001 about 6 weeks ago!). Your times will get better as you learn some of the tricks and get to know your car better.

Adding pressure to your front tires will def help LitiGATOR. Less of your front tires touching the track will decrease the resistance from them. And lowering the pressure in your rears helps you get better traction.

Playing with tire pressure definitely helps. I run my Daytona with 40psi front and 20-22psi rear. With cat back, CAI and the 8R14 Diablo tune, I am at 14.06. That is with spare, jack, full tank of gas, etc. If I were to shed some lbs, I'd be in the 13's. I think this Spring, Long Tubes, Torque Convertor and possibly Nitrous might be on order for my Daytona.
Congrats on the great runs!! Your reaction time will steadily improve! In my Z06, my reaction time was always .300 to .500....in the Daytona, it is a lot better (might be that the autos are easier to launch than a 6 speed...and the Z06 was famous for the bog when you launch).

How big was the grin on your face after that first run? I remember my first run (after I said I was just going to watch) I couln't stop smiling. Its nice to go WOT without having to worry about a set of blue lights flashing behind you.

Congrats!! you improved with every pass, way to go.
The best i could muster last night was a 12.97. Couldnt hook up. Cold track = no traction. My 60fts got worse on each run. My last 2 were 2.4s :(

I think last night was one of the busiest I've seen Moroso on a test an tune night.

btw i normally have wire an connectors to make the .25 cent fan with me at the track

Thanks! I knew that lowering the rears would help with traction -- so I did. But I didn't know that inflating the fronts would make a difference. I think next time I go, I'm going to go down to 23 psi on the rears and 40 psi on the front. I HAVE to get that 12.999!!

The more pressure, the harder the tire, the less roll resistance you get.

These guys are really cool and friendly. It is alot of fun and it would be cool to have another female out there to team up with. You should try to make it to the Mopar Challenge get together this Saturday. The first official race is the 19th so I have more practicing to do. I will PM you the next time I decide to head that way.

When I ran my 12.9 on street tires I think I was at 48 or 50psi on the fronts and I wanna say 22 or 24psi on the rears... These were on the stock 18" wheels on my C, yours may be different since you have a SRT... but raising the fronts will help. Just make sure you get a good burnout so the tires will be hotter and stick better. If you're that close I'm sure you can get it.
