Just relocated to south Austin

Need all the help, advice, info that I can get about the Austin area. And possibly getting together with any members in the area. Moved from Kingsville TX. Any reliable dealer service dept.? Currently living in a apartment just off of william cannon drive and I35. Wife is working at the state hospital. Would like to find out good and bad areas to look for a house. Any and all info would be highly appreciated.

Well a bad area to buy a house would be around Wm. Cannon and I-35... Really...

NW Austin, Pflugerville, Ceder Park. all good places to call home. On the southside look around Buda and Kyle.

The dealer I trust is about 40 miles south of you. Blue Bonnet Dodge in New Braunfels. I know that there is a Dealer right where you are but I know little of their service dept. I stopped to look at some Chargers there once and they seemed a bit aggressive on the retail side.

Austin is a very expensive place to live. East wouldn't be a bad area to check out. I think Maxwell dealerships are OK. One on 620 and one in Taylor, near me. PM me if you want.

I bought my CHSRT at South Point Dodge on the SB frontage road South of 71, North of Wm. Cannon. I had it back twice for service and they were great. The sales department did lack a bit though.

Hey Mark, welcome to Austin. I am in NW Austin (Arboretum) and work near Parmer Ln & 35. My wife works near the capitol and makes it there pretty quickly (15 minutes @ 7:00 AM) from our house. Coming home for her is still 20-30 minutes at 4:30.

PM me with more house hunting details and I will try to help you out on selecting an area. I have been here since 1972. Kids? Hobbies? Work location? Budget? Home size?

I'm sorry I missed seeing this thread before the weekend, I would have invited you out to the Driveway race track on Sunday for the autocross.

As for dealers, Allen Samuels (35/183) was not "bad", just ok for the one time I was there. That might not be not a fair appraisal on only one visit. I will take the Mag into Maxwell 620/183 (far NW Austin/Round Rock) . I've had several LX owners tell me of having very good service and LX technicians. Been there once and it was excellent.

Maybe it is time to get the Central Texas LXers together again. I think there has only been one gathering since I joined the group and I couldn't make that one.

Hey Mark, welcome to Austin. I live off of Parmer and my Svc dept. is at South Point. All though I didn't have to deal with their sales the SVC dept is first rate in my opinion. They explained everything in detail when i was having tranny issues they even called to make sure i was satisfied. Swimdad, we do need to get together. I was out on 360 on saturday and saw a line of about 100 Shelby Cobras. I think it was just a club getting together. I also saw about 50 of the new GTO's going south on Mopac. The Mean streets car shw is may 12th but i think that is mostly for import tuners. Lets get something together soon. I will have time before june when my daughter is due. I also would like to meet other LXers. Sorry so long.

We've had 2 LX M&Gs and one Dodge Talk gathering. For reasons unbeknownst to me, I forgot about the LX ones and made it to the DT one. It's definitely time for us to get together again.

Thanks for all the info and open doors for contact!!! I have been really busy trying to get house in Kingsville sold and job hunting.
