Greetings all. Well, I think its just about that time again. Lets start planning the next Great Intake (and a hole lotta other mods) Face Off; the GIFO4!
For those new to the GIFO series, please click here. You'll find that, over the past 3 GIFOs, the membership of these forums has come together to pit various performance mods against one another, in as controlled an enviornment as possible. The idea? Take a completely stock 5.7L Hemi and measure how each and every modification made affects performance, both on the dyno and at the track. We've learned quite a bit from these tests, we've shared some laughs, many dissapointments, some tears (watching my baby at WOT with no airfilter installed... I'm gonna start crying again just thinking about itAnd maybe best of all we've come together as a group and shown the world just how serious we are about our LX's. And believe me, the aftermarket community has been watching.
Current GIFO4 Fund Balance: $1325
Members who contributed: See the bottom of this post for a list

Test Time and Place
We're set to spend all day May 12th (Friday) with Bob at SVS R&D in Sacramento CA. He has been "The Man" since day one with these tests, and he's The Man again. When it comes to running the dyno, there are few better.
The cost of a full day on the dyno is going to run us $750. This buys us as many pulls across as many cars as we can possibly get thru. I will get to work on the procedure; it will include many tests with three different LX's. If I had to guess, we're talking 6ish hours of test time which leaves 2ish hours for anyone else that wants to run. I will be creating a Meet and Greet thread that will cover this as well as other fun stuff (beyond the testing) we'd like to plan.
For the track portion of these tests, we're set to meet at Sacramento Raceway, 6pm May 12th for their "Test & Tune" event. Miss gotls1 has graciously agreed, once again, to beat the living crap outta my Magnum and coax the best times possible out of it. I invite you to join us at the track as well and pit your skills against hers... don't feel bad when you loose though... she's damn good.
Check out the Meet and Greet thread found here. THIS is going to be one hell-of-an event folks. We'd love to see you out there...we've got SRT8's, RT's, SXTs... we've even got possibly the most engine modded street drivable Magnum on the planet joining us at the track. Might it break into the 12's? Come out and see first hand.

I wrote it out like this because there are people out there that use software to scan thousands of web pages looking for the '@' symbol and '.com' They hope to find email addresses to then sell to spammers. Sorry for any confusion this has caused, but I'd suggest if you ever add your email address to a page, you follow the same technique!)

So what do you think? Just as before, this is an open format test. It represents what we want to see as a group, not just what I think we want to see. Now is the time to talk about any mod you'd like to see added, changed, taken away... please help me organize this to produce the most informative test possible!
If you think this is worth while, please donate. Historically, I've borrowed mods from members, or bought many of the mods out of my own pocket (with the help of supporting vendors like Josh @ HighHorsePerformance, TBryne, MoparSuperCenter...) and paid for their install. You guys have bought the dyno and track time. $850 buys us a a full 8 hours on the dyno and two track nights. We're also trying to fly MagnumFreak out to join us, and his ticket is going to run around $500. So, I think our final minimum goal should be $1350.

What would a reasonable or suggested donation be?
Donations are totally up to you 67. You know our goals, and the current balance. Really, its whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't post who donated what specifically so its pretty anonymous (I do give a * next to the names of those that donate more than $50).
Most definately the superchips tuner. I want to be there again so try and give a longer heads up. You can put me down for a contribution, just pm me you address again. (I hate pay pal)
I like to pass!!
What are the chances of someone with the Mopar CAI who can lend their's for a test?

Aint got nothing, I got nothing to lose. I keep walking away these blues. The cup is broken, but it's half full. I got 100 miles to go before I get back to see my girl."

67, are you hoping to have it tested again for some reason? See here for the results from GIFO1, where it was tested (we found it to be no better and no worse than the rest. However, it was the crowd favorite in terms of looks and sound).
Hopefully my car will be back or replaced by the time this goes down. Superchips tuner is probably on the top of most peoples list.
Maybe some of the newer catbacks that have hit the market as of late..JBA, Corsa, Bassani ect.
Hopefully Obiwan is planning on showing up with his beast

2006 Charger R/T R&T Black..SRT8 stuff/JBA stuff
2005 Magnum R/T inferno red-now in magnum heaven
1966 Galaxie fastback-C6 w/460BB..sold, but not forgotten
CV - Whats the target date for hitting the shop ?
Based on that I suggest that any tuners that are out be runMake it simple and make it a matrix of 2 cars with all tuners.
Stock car
Car with the basics - CAI, Headers, Cat Back, TBS ( any basics I am missing )
Given time, maybe try 4 cars 2 each.

Nah, I just figured it might be helpful to test these new factors against things we already have a baseline for - throwing something like the Dub Air into the mix might not be as helpful.Originally Posted by CoolVanilla
I'm down with that. Anyone have one to lend?
PM on the way, thanks W. And, I do so promise to give more than.. what was it? 48 hours or so?Originally Posted by magnumdude
I hope so too, on both accountsOriginally Posted by RTracer
The tuner is most definitely the driving force here. I really want to do a bang up job with it; test every program on 2 vehicles is what I'm hoping. Of course, we need to see the thing before we can decide if thats practical though.
Wide open at this point. First, the tuners need to come out, next we need to get the funds, then we need to coordinate a handful of schedules... I don't think its out of line to be talking April, maybe even May.Originally Posted by RobAGD
I'm in San Fran, and I'll have a stock R/T the first week of March (already on the train coming to me). Depending on when the GIFO4 is scheduled, I may be able to provide a bone-stock test mule, if you need one.
