Thanks for this great effort. My only real question is where these companies are coming up with their numbers? Like 23 HP and so on...

There were two things that did not change during the test.
1. The throttle body that all the intakes connected to.
2. The exhaust system. (stock)

You can surmise that if the exhaust system was a aftermarket
Large diameter(High Flow rate) you might be able to pull more
Air thru the system..
Or - is the TB the choke point?

I wonder if the SRT/8 has a larger TB ????
And could it fit on the 5.7 manifold ?

Lots of questions!

It was just too much fun, now I wish stuck around for the 1/4 track testing!!

Thanks guys for all the hard work. In truth the results don't suprise me all that much. I had hopes. I will dowload the raw data and take a browse through it. I suspect the comment about running lean at WOT has a lot to due with it. Also, I would expect the intake was well engineered to match the flow of the exhaust.

I suspect rerunning the test with an aftermarket exhaust would show slightly different results. The Jet Stage 2 might help also.

Again thanks for the work and I look forward to all the discussion this is bound to generate.

snickle... why oh why...

Do I dare go here? Should I even mention? Does anyone else need to know I've got Zoomers scheduled for install 7/1? Do I sense an idea stirring here?...

CV,

So install the Zoomers, and run two dyno tests, stock and the Volant. That should give us some indication :-)

So what parts are up for sale?

I am new to the site, well, a couple weeks now, I wanted to say thank you to the team members who put this together. I will wait for a little more data before buying a new intake, hopefully, I, too, will have zoomers within 30 days, I would be very interested (be willing to donate $, not the car time, I live in Texas, that's 27 hours in a car, ouch, though in the Mag, I could do it) to have the dyno's run again when you get the zoomers CV! thanks again guys.

I would have like to seen some more variation in HP. Regardless of that, I do know that going from something like stock or a drop-in filter to an aftermarket intake will yeils a lot more throttle respone and much better numbers down low. Something we couldn't do on the dyno

(Waiting "patiently" for the 300C SRT8 8-speed) Coming.....soon?

Well, how about that. My faith in the DC design engneers was not misplaced. Glad I bought the Mopar intake mostly for looks and sound and to match my other Mopar parts.

Well at this point, I guess its more about sound and MPG. How has the MPG been? Anyone want to give testimonial as to their exp with better MPG with a particular intake.

I've got the K&N typhoon and Ive seen no change for around town driving, but highway has increased about 2-3 points. However, I only have 7000 miles so that could be break-in, the synth oil, me getting used to the car, the car getting used to me, ect, ect, ect....

and the no change around town could be my foot....I love hearing the growl at 50% throttle and up

Ive been sitting here reading the posts and thinking about yesterday (again, it was great!!!)

Im not sure who said it (a post here a while ago) but said something like "do you really think that DC would invest so much money in R&D for a new series of cars like these and NOT put in a good intake?

Well, who ever you are, where ever you are, you were right. I love the sound from my typhoon but I could have saved a few $$$$.

Let's see now... you want the same folks who have been telling us how much horsepower their CAI's have added to now tell us how much their MPG has improved!?!

Reaaaallllllyyyyy more throttle response from an air filter thats interesting, must be special ! Forget about runner design valve timing ignition and fuel maps all I need is a piece of bent pipe with a filter on the end.Huh no gain in high rpm horsepower where an airflow restiction would be obvious .But that bent pipe sure makes it snappy.Yeah something the dyno can't measure FANTASY. Bill

If that were the case, we should have seen a difference at the track.
