    Suggestion: Ported TB's

Would testing ported throttle body's be worth doing? 85, 85, and 90mm? I know there is a lot of talk on whether the gains are really there or not.

Myself, as well as some other members, have realized a .10 and a seat of the pants difference with Scotts(1FST4DR) ported TB, and yes he tested.

i beg to differ....ported is just ported in the end....its only ported until you get to the throttle blade itself...then it goes back to the stock size...and then back open on the other side....same thing vice versa...the middle of any ported throttle body is still goin to be the factory size...so basically were unrestricting airflow at the begining....restricting it back up in the middle, and then opening back up...not goin to make a whole hell of alot difference there...not worth wasting time testing...cast bodies are going to be whatever size they say there are from start to finish....no flux in sizes thru the inside....i hope that gives you a lil more insight...personally im goin to sell my 85mm ported MM tb and buy a cast 90mm arrington with nitrous injection...two birds with one stone...one proven bird(TB itself)....the other ill find out when i dabble with(built in nitrous plate capable of flowing 200+???)...

As i am completely new to this forum and platform, i am not sure if what i am about to say matters... but here is goes...

With our Dakotas there were a few guys that would port our throttle bodies... BUT they would port them all the way through and change out the butterfly.. I'm not sure if ppl with LX TBs do this or not, maybe there is some dumb sensor or something... but at least it used to be possible to port a stock TB.

I've got dyno sheets to prove ported stock TB's produce power on V6s, and on 3 different cars with different mods along with about 15 people's feedback to back it up.
Starting over with a new Magnum RT (SRT8 Conversion)... 6.1L with SRT Max Cam, Corsa catback with chambered center pipes, Sinister Extreme dual ram intake system, SRT Suspension, silver Brembos, graphite powder coated Charger SRT wheels, frost white intake manifold (ported) and valve covers, matte black engine bay, carbon fiber engine accents, 300C SRT8 Front end, Matte White vinyl wrap, Black Ops 300-Challenger style carbon fiber hood. If you're going to get ported get it from Scott from Billet Tech. Its the best mod for the price.
Spoke to most of the guys who tune these cars 90MM on 5.7 is an overkill. Depends what HP. If you're at 470rwhp and above then it might be a good investment. Cuz its more than just getting the 90mm, the car has to be tuned. 90mm its also hard to tune.
As far as the 85mm TB it will give you touch more power but it also WILL crisp up the throttle response.

i have an 87MM i saw an improvement in throttle response. my numbers are rwhp/torque 380/407. hp pretty low but hopefully i can get it up to 400 with a better tune. My Tune needs alot of adjusting.

current mods....... too many to list.

every condition from before and after when testing something like this on a dyno has to be the EXACT same...youll obviously huge growth on diff cars that are cold vs hot cars...it all comes down to conditions and a ton of other variables...im not knocking on getting one, i have a modern muscle 85mm under my hood....but with the way my car is goin to be setup by the end of the month im going to get a injected 90mm arrington....basically im tryin to prove what alterrocks suggested earlier in the thread...the blades on other bodies are changed when tbs are ported thru and thru....not on ours...so if our blades are still the stock sized blades...what are we gaining?

People can debate on HP all day yes, no maybe. What the ported TB will do is give you much nicer throttle response. If you drive with one for a while and switch back to stock you really feel the difference. Thats why paying only $150 dollars for ported TB from Scott at Billet Tech is not bad at all. But paying more than that is not worth it. What else can you do for $150 dollars? People spend $1200 dollar on exhaust systems just to sound better.

Yea, yea, we know you conducted your own analitical test. Since you showed no gain/benefit and numerous members have, that means you are right and everyone else is wrong. Pff....

    That would be "analytical" :^)

Many others have as well, and also concur. If one is buying these units specifically for a more zesty tip-in, then have at it...
