    request

requesting a mod face off with the damn tb spacers. This is a national debate over on cf. For every 50 guys that say they are junk 2 pop up claiming 30 hp. We have not seen any dyno's to prove any hp increase and we've been cold shouldered when talking to manufactures. Now i sell these stupid things at a part time but i tell people i dont believe in them unless they are going on trucks which normally get a mpg out of it or so. HP wise i personally think they are junk and noone has been able to prove me otherwise. I know these mfo's are a lot of work but if anyone gets bored could ya help a brotha out?
I would do it but have no access to a dyno or any form of proof other than my assometer. thanks

I imagine that would be a fairly simple one to test, once we were there and set up. And it would be nice to have a solid YES or NO on that one. Most folks (like you said), are pretty much convinced it doesn't gain you anything, but there are those who are convinced otherwise. Maybe it's more than a YES or NO in this case, and if so, I'd bet we could sort it out.

I haven't heard any plans for the next MoFO, other than we're kinda running out of things to do straight-across "A vs. B vs. C" testing on, without labor getting prohibitively expensive. I hope we do another one, and if so, I'll try my damdest to make it my third.

So here's a bump for the question.

Also, I'd like to finally put this one to rest:

Well I've got one installed by the previous owner. I don't know if it does anything but make a lot of noise.

There are vendors over on c.f. that sell them and have dynos and we cant even get them to do it. Its a 15 min procedure and could be put right back in the box without the customer even knowing. It basically costs nothing to try and it will put the issue to rest

Well they're not going to do it because they know it's snake oil.

^^^ Well, we (they) certainly wouldn't build an event around it, but if there were an event already, it wouldn't take more than a few pulls (3 without, 3 with) to confirm one way on another.

Personally, I agree that it's snake oil, but having never tested one myself I can't state it unequivocally.

Interesting idea. Junior's plan ^^^ seems the best. Just so long as we don't test one TB and then we get four other manufacturers claiming that their proprietary internal air channeling design makes all the difference in the world. That would never happen, right?

Yeah but trust me... been there and done that. As soon as the test was over leaving out Brand X the "yeah but brand X is special" comments will start.

doesnt matter in the long run, if brand x wants to claim blah blah blah, they need to put up or shut up. Them coming on here ranting about what it does without backing it up is as reliable as five loose lug nuts. Everyone will read through them and most likely differ from buying the product that cant back up its claim. There has got to be shops with dynos that have both on the shelf. We are a small home town performance shop and we have jet and airraid on the shelf. Just no dyno anywhere close.
