CV I have a MOFO question......

There is one pull and only one pull that was used to claim victory by a vendor,I did notice on that pull that the oil temps on the motor were 5* cooler to start and 10* cooler where peak power would be than on any other run........all the other vendors intakes were tested starting at a similar oil temp 177*.....except that 1 run......why even post the results?Would they not be inaccurate since the temps were so different?Just curious.

Give me specifics E. What file/run we talking about?

But independent of that, remember that we were trying to balance ECTs, Oil temps and time. You'll see some variation throughout the testing in the oil temp; if we let the oil cool too much, our ECTs would be way off. If we didn't let it cool enough, again our ECTs wouldn't be right. Obviously we biased toward the ECTs this time around (since thats what we've always done). Are you suggesting that in the future we ought to bias toward the oil? There are some real technical difficulties in doing that, and it would require far more time per pull than we allowed for, but I'm willing to talk about it assuming we can show a compelling reason to favor oil over ECT?

One example of what I'm eluding to... look at kaps data. His SRT's oil was ridiculously cool the entire time, compared to the other cars ran in the same weather. We commented on it more than once and we all just sorta scratched our heads as to why that might be the case. ECTs (and his 180deg thermostat) might account for some of it, but certainly not all of it.

Mofo659 compared to 567,658,661,662,663.......seems that temperature variance was the sole reason for a 2hp and 4 tq gain.

Gotcha. Well the first thing that I see is that is a run I threw out. The bolded of the three is the only result I'll recognize as a "result". Can't help what people do with the data beyond that.

Second thing that seems obvious to me is that the swing between the three pulls within that set(4hp/7trq) is similar to a swing in the RDPs set (3hp/6trq). And if you look at the oil temps in the first of the RDP set, you'll see they were actually were lower than the number you're questioning... and it was the worst run of the three.

So not really sure what to do with all that, except to say I don't believe oil temps varying within this range of 5-10ish degrees have much effect, if at all.
