Wax vs Polish

Well this forum is suppose to be a teaching tool and since a lot of us have dark color cars, I was browsing a site and found a System Polish for dark cars. Do you still wax with this product? It seems interesting this is the link http://www.meguiars.com/estore/produ...ectionID=11401

yes u do still wax with that product, the word system refers to that being part of Meguiars Deep Crystal line up..

part 1 of the system is Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
part 2 of the system is Deep Crystal Polish(what your link shows)
part 3 of the system is Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax..

use all 3 in order and get excellent results..

oooooooh yeah the meguiars is great...takes a long time but a real nice image afterwards it shouldnt take no more than 45-1hr for each step....take your time and dont do it in the heat!!!

Yes you must put wax on over polish. The wax is what protects your car and Meguiars makes great products. For the most part I use their products when it comes to my cars.
Russ, I read the link you provided at it is filled with real good info but I do one thing different. The info said to wash your vehicle from the top down doing the wheels and tires last. Washing the vehicle from the top down is the correct way to wash your car I just do one thing different and that is I wash the wheels and tires first to include wheel wells before I wash the rest of the car. I do this to aviod spraying any dirt from these areas back onto a just cleaned car. Just a little something I've learned over the years.

u are using a seperate wash bucket and wash mitt or sponge for the wheels correct, other wise that dirt, grime, brake dust etc, has the chance of being dragged around ya car when u wash it using the same wash bucket, and definately if u use the same wash mitt..

Having a black car for years I have followed the procedure for washing as in that article.

One thing to add----On hot days after washing a section of the car I always rewet the whole car....to cool down the panels constantly and to get rid of any residual dust or dirt that may get on the car. To do the tires and wells first you run the risk of getting contaminants in your wash mit (etc) and placing more swirls in the paint...unless you change the washing medium after you do the tires and wells.

One thing to note when they say start form the top first...yes do the whole top of the car first then hood along with upper half of doors and trunk, going completely around the car. then proceed to do the lower half which includes the bumbers. then your tires and wheel wells. So really I making four circle around the car as I wash...when rinsing always rewet the whole car to prevent the water from drying on the car and leaving mineral deposits. it does not take long to rewet the whole car.

I use 1 bucket and wash tools for the wheels, tires and wheel wells and 2 seperate buckets when I wash the rest of the vehicle. 1 bucket is for the car wash and the other is a rinse bucket as well as a seperate wash mitt for the car. The car always gets rinsed off first then I wash a section at a time starting at the top. After the top is done then I rerinse one side, wash then rerinse the other side and wash. After everything is washed and rinsed I rerinse the entire car without the hose nosel then dry it. I use a water blade and have seperate drying towels for the car, door jams, wheels and tires.

ive never dried my wheels wells or tires on any car, by the time im done drying the car, waxing it the wheels wells have dried, then i dress the wells and tires..

I dry the wheels to help aviod water spots. On my last car the wheels were clear coated so about once a month or so I would use car polish and wax on the wheels. I believe the wheels on my AWD SXT are the same.
