Mothers works fine...just don't drop it on the ground! Keep kneeding it...keep it lubed when you rub it...and make sure the car is thoroughly washed before you start! Works great and a small bar is good for 2 cars for the season done maybe 3-4 times each vehicle. Ordinary detailing spray wax stuff works fine if you run out too soon.

There are also grades - fine, medium, and agressive - from what I have seen.
Mothers or Meguires are about the only ones you find in the stores.

    try www.perfectautofinish.com also www.autopia-carcare.com

I have used Clay Magic (I think they own the patent). The bar they make is blue.

Or just soapy water. Tried that once and it worked just fine. All you need is something (aside from plain water) to allow the bar to glide across the paint.

There are different kinds of clay! Most over the counter stuff is light-med but they do sell a hard cut that will take off the rest of the stuff you couldnt get off with just the light and med kinds. You can use just water as a lubricant. Also when you dry your car spray some detailer spray on it and it does enhance the gloss.

Not for nothing, but if you go to your autoparts and have to choose between Meguiar's and Mothers's, go with Meguires (sp?).

Reason? They do the same job. But last time I checked, the Meguire's had 2 bars in the box for about the same price. I'm just sayin.

Trick I use while claying.. I use a pump up garden sprayer with a little car wash soap as the lubricant. You can just hold the trigger and get a steady stream while claying.
