    Swirl marks

Our car came with a ton o swirl marks. I think they used a high speed rotary buffer with sandpaper on it. Car is now almost 2 years old, I have yet to get the swirl marks gone. I have lessened them some, but they are still there. Now I have watched the videos at the detailer web sites and I do have a PC 7424. My question is, what polish/swirl remover/cleaner or whatever ya wanna call it, works? Anyone have favorites? I currently am using Pinnacle Sovereign wax, and have their paintwork cleansing lotion, but it does say that it is non-abrasive. I think I need an abrasive product. Anyone have any favorites? I lean towards using the Pinnacle products, only because I really like the wax.

I use sonus products to get them out! They have a 3 step process along with pads. They also have a swirl remover product.

You are not using the pad that the PC came with are you?? If so stop!! You can get 3 pads and the polishes for $90 shipped. You can also use poorboys and there are a couple others out there that work great!

Go over to www.griotsgarage.com and check out there products for your problems. I am a big fan of their products and can personally attest to their ease of use and appearance. They also have a great tech support so if you want to ask a question as to what should you do, they are there. Hope this helps you out.

You can sucessfully remove the swirls with a PC Dual Action Rotary Buffer and the right pads and products.

The following will work as detailed in this thread: SE Shindig Detailing Info

Mequiers Dual Action Cleaner Polish #83
    Mequiers Speed Glaze #80
Mequiers Synthetic Sealant #21 or NXT Tech Wax or fav wax/sealant

Mequiers 8006 Cutting Pad (PC Speed setting 5, for #83 and #80)
Mequiers 9006 Finishing Pad (PC Speed setting 3 for #21, speed setting 5 for buffing off wax/sealant)
Mequiers MicroFiber Bonnets used over a 7006 Heavy Cutting Pad (note don't use the 7006 pad directly on your paint)

Use #80 and try and remove the swirls, and only use #83 if that won't work and/or if your paint has a lot of defects. Use multiple applications as necessary. Follow with a good wax/sealant. I use a hand microfiber cloth to remove #80 and #83, and save the microfiber bonnets for removing #21 sealant and buffing to a nice shine.

Read the other threads here in the detailing forum and those links on technique. The How to use the PC for Showcar Results DVD in the above link is excellent how-to training.

I spent 6 hours in one day detailing the car. After looking in the lights of a parking lot I could see some swirlling but no where near what I had. The time you spend doing it right and not rushed will pay off in the end results!

XMT products work really well to remove swirls! The best rule of thumb is to use the least abrasive method. You can always be more abrasive later but you can never undue what you have done!

As for using the dual action polisher...practice on the wife's car first!

    When I do a

    Wash/Clay/83/80/7/21/21

Thats a solid 10 - 12 hours for me but I let the wax/Sealant sit for a while to make sure it got a solid cure time. They typically when I grab some light food ( nothing heavy you get SLEEPY ) and when I am done eating finish up.

If you car has been clayed within a month or so just spot clay ( rockers, front end and rear deck ) then goto town.

Check out ADS site in my orginal list.
