I've got hairline scratches and some haziness in the clear coat on my wheels. Tried polishing with Meguiar's cleaner/wax, which made them a little shinier, but not much, and didn't eliminate the scratches. Any suggestions?

2006 MSRT-8 ...GONE....
Note that the finish is sort of "brushed" it is not a true "polished" finish so it does look a bit scratched.
Now hazy - that is not normal.
If there are scratches in the clear coat they can be removed with polishing compound. I've done it sucessfully with the RT style wheels. This may help with haziness but I've got no experience with that. What you're calling haziness may be normal. Clearcoated AL is not going to shine like chrome.
Don't get carried away and rub all the clearcoat off.
I take 2000 grit automotive sand paper and wet sand the scratches out.
This will scare the hell out of you the first time you do it because it will make it look REALLY hazy. Don't freak.
Take a good polishing compound and a buffer (works by hand too, just takes longer) and use vertical motion to take out the sandpaper haze.
This will get those pesky scratches out and will make your wheels look brand new.
You can do the same thing for any scratches in your paint as well.
If fact since I found this out I am in the process or wet sanding the entire car piece by piece when I get the time. It takes that slight orange peel texture out and leaves the clear coat diamond facet smooth.
I learned the trick from a painter at a car show. He charges around $9,000 for his paint jobs because he does this to every single piece he paints which creates hours and hours of labor. He had a few cars at the show and looking closely at his paint jobs compared to even the top show cars there was night and day when you knew what to look for.

You might want to look into some stuff I got as well. It's a clear coat for wheels in a spray can from Duplicolor. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I will in the next week or so.
(Waiting patiently for the 2011/12 300C SRT 8)
This is what I would try first:
I have used it on scratches on my cars to getting the scratches out of my Gears of War disc for my Xbox360. It is awesome stuff.![]()

2012 Jeep GC Overland Summit. Yeah, it's got a Hemi. No mods...yet
The clearcoat is a Powder Coat Clear polyester...My company is a tier 2 supplier to GM Chrysler Bentley and that's what we do...Clear Coat on aluminum! CUBUFF was correct in a previuos post, a light sanding/wet sanding with a fine grit paper then polishing will do the trick.
Don't try to re-coat it with another coat of clear, you'll make a mess. We fuss over the littlest things.
So just sand until it turns hazy then polish, ect?
