Lol, nice.
I was wanting to clean up the charger engine. What's the best way to go about this? I've had bad experiences at the car wash years ago and know better now. Simple green, low pressure water on cold engine, and you said Meguiar's Hot Shine? I have a Meguiar's 2 in 1 engine degreaser and shine. Not sure if they even make it anymore. I've had it sitting a couple years. You just spray the Hot shine after cleaning? I just don't want water where it's not supposed to be so I thought I better ask what works. Thanks all.
Can I get a little more detailed how to. I don't like taking a water hose around my engine bay.
No car expert but here's my two cent. If you drive your car in the rain and someone sprays your car through the front fascia parts are getting wet. So as long as you don't drinch your car down I think you should be fine. Hence a light mist inside the engine bay. Best judgement is use common sense.
I just put a bag over the alternator and used the black magic 2 in one on the bay with a spray off (cone shape pattern) from a garden hose. Worked great, looked great. Would have been nice to have had my compressor here to blow off the excess rinse water. Soaked up as much as I could with towels.

I thought simple green would harm billet parts. Is that not the case?

I didnt see any billet parts on the OP... But yes, care must be taken. Dont just go blastin' away...
I cover the alternator and air filter, spray on diluted simple green, wait a few minutes then hose everything off with LOW pressure water. Remove the covers from the alt and filter, go for a drive and the next day I coat the engine bay with WD40. Simple, safe, effective, looks great and lasts a long time.

eh... I dont agree with the WD after-coating. *I* think that just catches more crap and dirt flyin round... Besides, by that time the motor is being opened up and parts are swapped out again! lol
Simple green or something similar to clean off grease then Cd2 engine cleaner. Stuff is amazing spray on and leave it and your engine bay will look brand new.
